''Join Inn'' is the fourth album by Krautrock band Ash Ra Tempel. It was recorded at Studio Dierks by Dieter Dierks during breaks in the sessions for the Walter Wegmüller album ''Tarot''. It was originally released on LP by Ohr in Berlin, catalogue number OMM 556032. Each side of the LP comprises one long track. ''Join Inn'' marks the end of the collaboration with Klaus Schulze. However, together with ''Ash Ra Tempel'', their eponymous first album, it is considered a highlight of the Krautrock movement. Julian David Cope (born 21 October 1957) is an English musician and author. He was the singer and songwriter in Liverpool post-punk band the Teardrop Explodes and has followed a solo career since 1983 in addition to working on musical side projects such as Queen Elizabeth, Brain Donor and Black Sheep. Ash Ra Tempel Albums
Ash or ashes are the solid remnants of fires. Specifically, ''ash'' refers to all non-aqueous, non-gaseous residues that remain after something burns. In analytical chemistry, to analyse the mineral and metal content of chemical samples, ash is the non-gaseous, non- liquid residue after complete combustion. Ashes as the end product of incomplete combustion are mostly mineral, but usually still contain an amount of combustible organic or other oxidizable residues. The VCS 3 (or VCS3; an initialism for ''Voltage Controlled Studio, version #3'') is a portable analog synthesizer with a flexible modular voice architecture introduced by Electronic Music Studios (London) Limited (EMS) in 1969. Klaus Schulze
Klaus Schulze (4 August 1947 – 26 April 2022) was a German electronic music pioneer, composer and musician. He also used the alias Richard Wahnfried and was a member of the Krautrock bands Tangerine Dream, Ash Ra Tempel, and The Cosmic Jokers before launching a solo career consisting of more than 60 albums released across six decades. Early life Schulze was born in Berlin in 1947. His father was a writer and his mother a ballet dancer. After graduating from high school, he delivered telegrams and studied German at the Technical University of Berlin. He and his wife Elfie had two sons, Maximilian and Richard. Manuel Göttsching
Manuel Göttsching (9 September 1952 – 4 December 2022) was a German musician and composer. As the leader of the groups Ash Ra Tempel and Ashra in the 1970s and 80s, as well as a solo artist, he was one of the most influential guitarists of the Krautrock (also known as ''Kosmische Musik'') genre. He also participated in the Cosmic Jokers sessions. His style and technique influenced dozens of artists in the post- Eno ambient and Berlin School of electronic music scenes in the 1980s and 1990s. Hartmut Enke
Hartmut Enke (20 October 1952 – 27 December 2005) was a German musician, best known as the bass guitarist in Ash Ra Tempel. Hartmut Enke formed his first band with Manuel Göttsching at his 15th birthday party in 1967. Three years later he was a member of Göttsching's "Steeple Chase Bluesband" which would evolve into Ash Ra Tempel. Enke decided to quit the music business in 1973, and was not present at Ash Ra Tempel's reunion in 2000. He died in late 2005, aged 53. Walter Wegmüller (25 February 1937 – 26 March 2020) was a Swiss painter and recording artist. As a recording artist, he was best known for the Krautrock album ''Tarot'', which was released on the Cosmic Couriers label in 1973. Biography Wegmüller was born in Bern, the son of Romani travellers, and grew up in homes and farms with foster parents. He traveled around Europe and India, making paintings and jewelry. Dieter Dierks (born 9 February 1943) is a German record producer, sound engineer, music publisher, studio owner and musician. He became well known as producer of the rock band Scorpions who were signed to him between 1975 and 1988. Before that time, he had already successfully established Hamburg-based band Atlantis in the US. Between 1969 and 1975, numerous albums of the "Krautrock" era were produced at Dierks Studio. From 1975 onwards, more and more international artists started booking his state-of-the art sound and TV studios. Personal life Dierks is the son of a Jewish mother and a Catholic father. Ash Ra Tempel was a West German krautrock group led by guitarist Manuel Göttsching that was active from 1970 to 1976. Their debut album ''Ash Ra Tempel'' was released in 1971. Following the band's demise, Göttsching released music under the name Ashra. History The group was founded by Göttsching, drummer Klaus Schulze, and bassist Hartmut Enke in 1970, following their participation in Conrad Schnitzler's short-lived group Eruption. Prior to Eruption, Schnitzler and Schulze had played together in Tangerine Dream. ''Starring Rosi'' is the fifth and technically final album released by Ash Ra Tempel, as it is the last to feature Manuel Göttsching. It was recorded at Studio Dierks, Stommeln by Dieter Dierks. It was originally released on LP by Ohr under their 'Kosmische Musik' imprint, catalogue number KM 58.007. Generally regarded as something of a turning point for Göttsching, this album to some extent dispenses with the lengthy jams of previous albums and adopts a tighter song-structure. The line-up is a reduced one following the departure of Harmut Enke; Göttsching plays most of the instruments, with Wallenstein's Harald Großkopf guesting on drums.
