Johor Strait
The Johore Strait (also known as the Tebrau Strait, Straits of Johor, Selat Johor, Selat Tebrau, and Tebrau Reach) is an international strait in Southeast Asia, between Singapore and Peninsular Malaysia. Geography The strait separates the Malaysian state of Johor on the mainland Malay Peninsula to the north, from Singapore and its islands on the south. It connects to the Strait of Malacca on the west, and the Singapore Strait on the southeast. The mouth and delta of the Johor River is on its northeast side in Malaysia. Crossings There are currently two bridges crossing the strait. The Johor–Singapore Causeway, known simply as "The Causeway", links Johor Bahru and Woodlands, Singapore, Woodlands in Singapore. Singapore (), officially the Republic of Singapore, is a sovereign island country and city-state in maritime Southeast Asia. Tuas
Tuas is a planning area located within the West Region of Singapore. It is bounded by the Western Water Catchment to its north, Pioneer to its east and the Straits of Johor to its west. Tuas also shares a maritime boundary with the Western Islands planning area to its east. The Malaysia–Singapore Second Link that links Singapore to Malaysia is located in Tuas. Etymology The name Tuas is derived from a fishing method previously used by coastal Malays. Shade was created by using coconut fronds as a shelter with a net spread underneath the shade in the water. Once fish are drawn in by the shade, the net is pulled up by the Malay fisherman. Levering or hauling up in Malay is ''menuas'', without the noun-building prefix of me-, the Malay word is ''tuas''. Dugong
The dugong (; ''Dugong dugon'') is a marine mammal. It is one of four living species of the order Sirenia, which also includes three species of manatees. It is the only living representative of the once-diverse family Dugongidae; its closest modern relative, Steller's sea cow (''Hydrodamalis gigas''), was hunted to extinction in the 18th century. The dugong is the only sirenian in its range, which spans the waters of some 40 countries and territories throughout the Indo-West Pacific. The dugong is largely dependent on seagrass communities for subsistence and is thus restricted to the coastal habitats which support seagrass meadows, with the largest dugong concentrations typically occurring in wide, shallow, protected areas such as bays, mangrove channels, the waters of large inshore islands and inter-reefal waters. Forest City (Johor)
Forest City is an integrated residential development and private town located on the slopes of Gelang Patah, Johor Bahru District, Johor, Malaysia on 1,370 hectares. Announced in 2006 as a twenty-year project, the project was pitched under China's Belt and Road Initiative. It was opened by then Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Razak in 2016, with the approval of the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Ismail. Forest City in Johor is in partnership with Esplanade Danga 88, an affiliate of the Johor People's Infrastructure Group (KPRJ), through a joint venture, Country Garden Holding Ltd (CGPV), with CGPV holding 60 percent of shares, while KPRJ holds the other 40 percent. Segget River
Segget River ( ms, Sungai Segget, ) is a river in Johor, Malaysia. The length of the river is about 4,280 meters. It starts from the current Johor Bahru Chinese Cemetery, through the downtown of Johor Bahru city, and ends at Straits of Johor. The Segget River flows through the east bank and the west bank of the river. There is a small shaped triangle island called Segget Island. There is a wet market on the island. The West Bank of Segget River was mostly settled by Teochew. The road by the river is called Jalan Trus, most of the business around that area is owned by Teochew Chinese, and Johor Bahru Old Chinese temple is also located here. Pulai River
The Pulai River ( ms, Sungai Pulai) is a river in Johor, Malaysia. It runs from Mount Pulai in Kulai District until Tanjung Pelepas, draining into the Tebrau Straits. At its mouth lies the single largest seagrass bed in Malaysia, which extends all the way to Pulau Merambong. Sungai Pulai is also a mangrove forest reserve. The site is being studied to help managing the vast mangrove ecosystem, with assistance from University of Technology Malaysia and the National University of Malaysia, in line with the Integrated Management Plan for the sustainable use of mangroves in Johor.
