John Johnson House (Leighton, Alabama)
The John Johnson House also known as The Green Onion is a historic residence near Leighton, Alabama, USA. The house was built in the late 1820s by John Johnson, a settler from Mecklenburg County, Virginia, who lived in Middle Tennessee before coming to North Alabama. His son-in-law, Lewis Dillahunty, was one of the earliest settlers in the western Tennessee Valley, and convinced Johnson to move to the area. Johnson died in the early 1840s, and his son sold the house and 80 acres (32 ha) out of the family. The house has been long occupied by tenant farmers, and is now part of the Leonard Preuitt estate. The Ben Johnson House is in the northern outskirts of Bardstown, Kentucky. It was built in 1851 in a Greek Revival style for state senator and lieutenant governor William Johnson. The house's name comes from William's son Ben Johnson, who was a state senator for two decades and was on the Kentucky High Commission for 16 years. Sir John Alexander Macdonald (January 10 or 11, 1815 – June 6, 1891) was the first prime minister of Canada, serving from 1867 to 1873 and from 1878 to 1891. The dominant figure of Canadian Confederation, he had a political career that spanned almost half a century. Macdonald was born in Scotland; when he was a boy his family immigrated to Kingston in the Province of Upper Canada (today in eastern Ontario). The John Johnson Three-Decker is a historic triple decker house in Worcester, Massachusetts. The house was built c. 1894, and is a distinctive variant of the form, with a central projecting bay section. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. Description and history The John Johnson Three-Decker is located on a residential street in eastern Worcester, on the west side of Eastern Avenue north of Belmont Avenue (Massachusetts Route 9, a major through road). It is a three-story frame structure, covered by hip roof with decorative brackets in it eaves. The walls are finished in wooden clapboards. The facade of the building is unusual for triple deckers built in Worcester, with three bays, of which the center one is a projecting polygonal window bay. The main entrance is in the right bay, sheltered by a hip-roofed porch. Johnson House (Methuen, Massachusetts)
The Johnson House is a historic house in Methuen, Massachusetts. It is a -story wood-frame house, five bays wide, with a hip roof and end chimneys. The two bays to the right of the entrance have been replaced by a projecting bay window with Italianate paired brackets at its cornice, and the windows left of the entrance have a curved cornice from the same period. The main entrance portico is also an Italianate addition, with jigsawn entablature and an elaborate door surround with diamond-light sidelight windows. The house was built c. 1830 by Joseph Carleton, and was at that time probably one of the grander Federal style houses in Methuen. By 1885 it was owned by Edward Johnson, a clerk for the Boston and Maine Railroad. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
