Johnnie Walker is a brand of Scotch whisky now owned by Diageo that originated in the Scottish burgh of Kilmarnock in East Ayrshire. The brand was first established by grocer John Walker. It is the most widely distributed brand of blended Scotch whisky in the world, sold in almost every country, with annual sales of the equivalent of over 223.7 million 700 ml bottles in 2016 (156.6 million litres). History John Walker was born on 25 July 1805. His farmer father died in 1819, and the family sold the farm. Their trustees invested the proceeds, £417, in an Italian warehouse, grocery, and wine and spirits shop on the High Street in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland. Walker managed the grocery, wine, and spirits segment as a teenager in 1820. John Walker (born 12 December 1973) is a Scottish former professional footballer, who played as a midfielder. He notably played for Clydebank and Mansfield Town in a career that lasted between 1990 and 2004. Walker started his professional career with Rangers but in three years at Ibrox he only managed three first team appearances. In 1993, he transferred to Clydebank. He then made a move to England in 1995, signing with Grimsby Town. He was brought Blundell Park by Brian Laws as the club's highest paid player; after three years he then joined Mansfield Town following a loan spell at the club. Its two key figures were Major Millis Jefferis and Stuart Macrae, former editor of ''Armchair Science'' magazine. History MD1 began in "Military Intelligence Research" (MIR). is a 2002 novel by Japanese author Haruki Murakami. Its 2005 English translation was among "The 10 Best Books of 2005" from ''The New York Times'' and received the World Fantasy Award for 2006. John (Johnnie) Walker (born 1805, Kilmarnock–1857) was a Scottish grocer, who originated what would become one of the world's most famous whisky brand names, Johnnie Walker, despite the fact he was himself a teetotaler. Biography John Walker was born in 1805 near Kilmarnock in East Ayrshire. When his father Alexander died in 1820, he was left £417 in trust. In 1820, the trustees invested in an Italian warehouse, grocery, and wine and spirits shop on the High Street in Kilmarnock. In 1833, John married Elizabeth Purves. He was a respected businessman, leader of the local trade association, and a Freemason.
