Johnny Powless
Johnny Powless (born March 15, 1993 in Six Nations, Ontario) is an Iroquois professional lacrosse player. Powless currently plays for the Toronto Rock of the National Lacrosse League and the Oakville Rock of Major Series Lacrosse. Powless won NLL Championships in each of his first three seasons, and has also won two Mann Cups with the Chiefs. NLL career Powless was drafted 5th overall by the Knighthawks in the 2011 entry draft. After winning the NLL Championship with the Knighthawks in his first season (2012), Powless was also given the NLL's Sportsmanship Award. Toronto Rock
The Toronto Rock are a professional box lacrosse franchise based in Hamilton, Ontario, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. They are members of the North Division of the National Lacrosse League (NLL). The team was the first Canadian franchise in the NLL. Oakville, Ontario, Oakville resident Jamie Dawick is the current owner of the Rock, purchasing the team after the 2009 season. Since 2014, Dawick has also served as their general manager. The Rock play their home games at FirstOntario Centre which they currently share with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the Ontario Hockey League, OHL. The franchise was founded in 1998 as the Ontario Raiders in Hamilton. Lacrosse is a team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a lacrosse ball. It is the oldest organized sport in North America, with its origins with the indigenous people of North America as early as the 12th century. The game was extensively modified by European colonists, reducing the violence, to create its current collegiate and professional form. Players use the head of the lacrosse stick to carry, pass, catch, and shoot the ball into the goal. The sport has four versions that have different sticks, fields, rules and equipment: field lacrosse, women's lacrosse, box lacrosse and intercrosse. Jordan Rhys Hall (born August 31, 1984) is a Canadian lacrosse player from Surrey, British Columbia who plays for the Rochester Knighthawks in the National Lacrosse League and the Hamilton Nationals of Major League Lacrosse. College career Hall attended University of Delaware, where he played alongside Alex Smith to help the Blue Hens reach the 2007 NCAA Division I Men's Final Four. In 2006, he was named Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year. Professional career Hall was selected in the first round (first overall) by the New York Titans of the National Lacrosse League in the 2007 NLL Entry Draft. A lacrosse scout said that Hall was "the most NLL-ready player in the draft". Hall was awarded "Rookie of the Month" honors in March of the 2008 NLL season.
