Johnny Hickman
John Arthur Hickman (born September 10, 1959) is an American musician best known as the lead guitarist and co-founder of the rock band Cracker (band), Cracker. Biography Early years Hickman is a native of Redlands, California, Redlands in San Bernardino County, California, San Bernardino County in California's Inland Empire (California), Inland Empire. Prior to his tenure in Cracker, Hickman had stints in various California bands including The Unforgiven (band), The Unforgiven and The Dangers. In the early 1990s, he co-founded Cracker with childhood friend, David Lowery (musician), David Lowery. His often imitated signature sound, influenced by punk rock, surf guitar and Bakersfield sound, "Bakersfield Country" sound, is played on a 1977 Les Paul guitar. Redlands, California
Redlands ( ) is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 73,168, up from 68,747 at the 2010 census. The city is located approximately west of Palm Springs and east of Los Angeles. History The area now occupied by Redlands was originally part of the territory of the Morongo and Aguas Calientes tribes of Cahuilla people. Explorations such as those of Pedro Fages and Francisco Garcés sought to extend Catholic influence to the indigenous people and the dominion of the Spanish crown into the area in the 1770s. The Tongva village of Wa’aachnga, located just to the west of present-day Redlands, was visited by Fr. Francisco Dumetz in 1810, and was the reason the site was chosen for a mission outpost. Chuck Garvey
Chuck Garvey is one of two guitarists for the American rock band moe. His playing has been influenced by Frank Zappa, Mick Ronson, David Bowie, Pete Townshend, Andy Summers, Jimi Hendrix, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. He lives in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. On the morning of November 6, 2021, Garvey suffered a stroke while at home. moe. Garvey is one of the founding members of moe. along with Rob Derhak. The Railbenders are an American country band formed in Denver, Colorado in 2000 by Jim Dalton and Tyson Murray. Westword Music Showcase named The Railbenders to be Denver's Top Country/Roots act in 2002 and 2003, they were also named "Best of the Underground" in 2004 by The Denver Post. Also in 2004, The Coors Brewing Company named The Railbenders The Coors Original 2004 New Sound Throwdown Champions which included a sponsorship. The Railbenders have opened for Willie Nelson, ZZ Top, Peter Frampton, The Doobie Brothers Kenny Rogers, Charlie Daniels and Nickel Creek. Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers is an American rock band from Tempe, Arizona. History Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers formed after a lineup shift of The Refreshments, a rock band active in the 1990s known for their top radio hit, " Banditos," as well as the theme song for the hit cartoon show, "King of the Hill" After two of The Refreshments members left, members Roger Clyne and drummer Paul "P.H." Naffah continued to produce music and changed the moniker to Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers. Clyne and Naffah were originally joined by former Gin Blossoms member Scott Johnson, who left to rejoin his former band in 2002. James Swafford and Daryl Icard also appeared in the new lineup, but were unable to stay. Steve Larson, former guitarist for Dead Hot Workshop, also joined the band. David Lowery (musician)
David Charles Lowery (born September 10, 1960) is an American guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, mathematician, and activist. He is the founder of alternative rock band Camper Van Beethoven and co-founder of the more-traditional rock band Cracker. Lowery released his first solo album, ''The Palace Guards'', on February 2, 2011, via the 429 Records label. Biography Personal life and music career Lowery was born in San Antonio, Texas, the son of a career Air Force father. He has described his parents as "a hillbilly and an English working-class woman." His family moved around a great deal during his youth before finally settling in Redlands, California, where he attended high school. He became involved in music as a member of the band Sitting Ducks, who played a mixture of punk and acid rock, along with what Lowery described as "fake Russian-sounding music."
