Johnny Grant (radio Personality)
Johnny Grant (May 9, 1923 – January 9, 2008) was an American radio personality and television producer who also served as the honorary mayor of Hollywood, in which capacity he was often present at Hollywood community functions, including the unveiling of new stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. An intersection just north of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue is designated "Johnny Grant Way". Early life and career Grant was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina. He made his show business debut on the radio in 1939 as a local newscaster there. According to publicity released by the third annual Hollywood Film Festival in 1999: Grant joined the United States Army Air Corps, Army Air Corps during World War II, hosting a daily radio show in New York City for servicemen and women. Johnny Grant is an American politician. He most recently served as a Republican Georgia State Senator representing the 25th district of Georgia. His district included the counties of: Baldwin, Butts, Greene, Hancock, Jasper, Jones (Pt.), Morgan, Putnam, Taliaferro, Warren (Pt.). Grant was first elected to the state legislature in 2004. Early life and education Grant is a graduate of Georgia Tech and has a Masters from Georgia College & State University in public administration. Career Grant won re-election in 2006–2010. He was defeated in the Republican Primary in 2012. Jonathan Nicholas Grant (born October 15, 1993) is a professional soccer player who plays as a defender for York United of the Canadian Premier League. Born in Canada, Grant plays for the Guyana national team. Early life Grant began playing youth soccer at age three with Wexford SC. When he was 15, he joined Sigma FC. In 2012, Grant committed to join Yavapai College. Club career In 2014, he played with Sigma FC in League1 Ontario. After the season, he was invited to train with the first team and reserves of Belgian club Genk. On May 15, 2015, after a month-long trial, he signed a professional contract with USL club FC Montreal, the second team of Major League Soccer club Montreal Impact. He made his debut the same day against the Charleston Battery. In December 2015, he signed with the Swope Park Rangers for the 2016 season.
