Johnny Firecloud
''Johnny Firecloud'' is a 1975 American exploitation horror thriller film directed by William Castleman and starring Victor Mohica, Ralph Meeker, and David Canary. Its plot follows a Native American who, after serving in the Vietnam War, returns to his New Mexico desert hometown to find it victimized by a domineering white rancher, and enacts revenge. The film was distributed by Twentieth Century-Fox. Cast Production Filming took place in California in the fall of 1974. Release The film screened in Albuquerque, New Mexico beginning on July 25, 1975. It later opened in Los Angeles on November 5, 1975. Something Weird Video released the film on DVD as a double feature with ''Bummer!'' in 2001. Sacheen Littlefeather
Marie Louise Cruz (November 14, 1946 – October 2, 2022), better known as Sacheen Littlefeather, was an American actress, model, and activist on behalf of Native American civil rights. Littlefeather represented Marlon Brando at the 45th Academy Awards in 1973, where she on Brando's behalf declined the Best Actor award that he won for his performance in ''The Godfather''. The favorite to win, Brando boycotted the ceremony as a protest against Hollywood's portrayal of Native Americans and to draw attention to the standoff at Wounded Knee. During her speech, the audience's response to Brando's boycotting was divided between booing and applause. After the Academy Award speech, Littlefeather worked in hospice care. She continued her activism for Native American issues including healthcare and unemployment, and produced films about Native Americans. Weird West (aka Weird Western) is a term used for the hybrid genres of fantasy Western, horror Western and science fiction Western. The term originated with DC's ''Weird Western Tales'' in 1972, but the idea is older as the genres have been blended since the 1930s, possibly earlier, in B-movie Westerns, comic books, movie serials and pulp magazines.
