Johnny Brown (rugby League)
Johnny Brown (born 13 May 1943) is an Australian former rugby league footballer, who played in the 1960s and 1970s. An Australian international and Queensland interstate representative halfback, he played his club football in the Brisbane Rugby League premiership for Norths, with whom he won the 1968 Rothmans Medal and the 1969 premiership. Having previously played in Mount Morgan and Ipswich, Brown was selected to represent Queensland and moved to the BRL, playing with Norths. In 1967 he was named the club's player of the year and appeared in the grand final loss to Brothers. in 1969 he was again named the Norths club's player of the year, won the Rothmans medal, for best and fairest player in the premiership and also captained the grand-final winning Norths team. He was selected for Australia in the 1970 World Cup. He also represented Queensland at cricket, appearing in six first-class matches during the 1960s. Mount Morgan is a rural town and locality in the Rockhampton Region, Queensland, Australia. In the the locality of Mount Morgan had a population of 1,963 people. The town was the administrative centre of the Mount Morgan Shire until March 2008, when it was amalgamated with neighbouring local government areas to form the Rockhampton Region. Geography The town of Mount Morgan is situated on the Dee River, south of the city of Rockhampton, and is north of the state capital, Brisbane. The Burnett Highway passes through the town. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket.
