John Barker (born 1965) is an American entrepreneur and advertising executive based in New York City, NY. He is the founder of 3 companies: integrated advertising and interactive agency Barker/DZP; branded entertainment firm The ACME Brand Content Company, and multi-platform digital content production company Digital Zen Productions. Early years John grew up in St. Louis, MO and attended St. Louis Country Day School (since renamed MICDS). From 1983-1987, he attended Yale University in New Haven, CT. John Barker (minister)
John Barker (1682–1762) was an English presbyterian minister. Life Barker was born in 1682, but neither the locality of his birth nor the condition of his parents has been ascertained. It is probable that he was related to the Rev. Matthew Barker, who was ejected from St. Leonard's, Eastcheap, London, in 1662, and died on 25 March 1698. After school training he was educated for the presbyterian ministry by Timothy Jollie, at Attercliffe Academy, Yorkshire. Having been 'certified' by Jollie, Barker proceeded to London, and was licensed by the Presbyterians as a preacher of the gospel. In 1709 he was chosen assistant preacher to one of the foremost presbyterian congregations in London, at Crosby Square. The senior pastor was Dr. Benjamin Grosvenor, with whom Barker was on good terms. On the death of Matthew Henry the commentator in June 1714, his congregation in Mare Street, Hackney, London, invited Barker to succeed him. He gained prominence through his feature directorial debut ''Bunny Chow'' (2006), which screened at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). John William Barker (December 25, 1872 – May 14, 1924) was a career officer in the United States Army. A veteran of the American Indian Wars, Spanish–American War,Philippine–American War, World War I, he served from 1894 to 1920. Barker attained the rank of brigadier general, and was a recipient of two Silver Stars, the French Legion of Honor (Officer), and the French Croix de guerre. Early life John W. John Barker, M.D. (1708–1748), was an English medical writer. Life Barker was educated at St. Thomas's Hospital, London, and Wadham College, Oxford, where he graduated B.A. in 1731, M.A. and B.M. in 1737, and D.M. in 1743. He practised medicine in Salisbury for nearly ten years. In 1746, he was admitted a member of the College of Physicians, and, moving to London, became in that year physician to the Westminster Hospital. In the following year he resigned this post on being appointed physician to his majesty's army in the Low Countries. He did not long survive his promotion, and was buried in St. Stephen's Church, Ipswich, where there is a tablet to his memory. John Barker (died 1653) was an English ship-owner. Biography Barker was in earlier life a merchant, shipowner, and shipmaster of London, probably the same who, in 1627, in partnership with Matthew Cradock, John Fowke (afterwards, in 1653, lord mayor), and others, obtained letters of marque for the Golden Cock, of 200 tons (7 March, 17 July 1627), which Barker commanded in the Mediterranean, and in which, in the course of 1629, he recaptured a Venetian vessel from a Turkish corsair in the neighbourhood of Zante. The grand signor demanded and enforced satisfaction from the Levant Company, at whose instance Barker was thrown in prison, and so kept for more than a year (September 1630). John Barker (scholar)
John Barker (fl. ca. 1471–1482) was first recorded as a King's Scholar at Eton College about 1471. He went to King's College in 1474, was elected a fellow in 1477, and graduated MA in 1479. His Etonian connection may indicate that he was from the south of England. Barker taught logic to "sophisters" (second-year undergraduates) using his own text, the '' Scutum inexpugnabile''. No copy survives, but it was probably an introduction to Aristotelian logic and modal grammar. Brian Rowe, who came up to King's in 1499, wrote a commendatory preface for it in the early 16th century, indicating that it was then still in use in the college. John Barker (Scottish Footballer)
John Bell Barker (28 June 1869 – 29 June 1941) was a Scottish footballer who played for Linthouse, Rangers and the Scotland national team in the 1890s. Life and career Barker was born in Govan (then a separate burgh from neighbouring Glasgow) in 1869, the son of John Barker and Margaret Trench Barker. His father worked as a fitter in the shipbuilding industry, which became a major industry in Govan in the mid-19th century. Barker joined Rangers from Linthouse in early 1892 and made an immediate impact by scoring three goals in his first five appearances. He achieved a similar impact at international level, scoring a hat-trick in the first of his two Scotland caps against Wales in March 1893. John Barker (English Footballer)
John Barker (4 July 1948 – 2004) was an English professional footballer who made 263 appearances in the Football League playing as a left back for Scunthorpe United. Career Barker was born in Huddersfield, the son of former footballer Jeff Barker. He began his career in the youth system of Scunthorpe United, where his father was a member of the backroom staff, and made his debut in the Fourth Division as a 17-year-old, in April 1966 away at Bournemouth. He scored the equalising goal with a diving header against Sheffield Wednesday as Scunthorpe knocked the First Division club out of the 1970 FA Cup. Barker suffered concussion in the act of scoring, took no further part in the match, and was unaware until afterwards that he had scored a goal. He went on to make more than 300 appearances for the club before retiring from professional football at the early age of 27 to take up a post with the Forestry Commission.
