Johnny Ayris
John Patrick Ayris (born 8 January 1953) is an English former football right winger. Club career Ayris began his career at Fulham, before joining West Ham United after being spotted by a West Ham scout playing eight-a-side football in Mile End. On 3 October 1970, after excelling for West Ham's 'A' team in the Metropolitan League, Ayris made his debut for West Ham, at the age of 17, recording three assists for Geoff Hurst in a 3–1 home against Burnley. As a result of his impressive debut, manager Ron Greenwood offered Ayris a professional contract two days later. The following month, Ayris started in Bobby Moore's testimonial, scoring West Ham's second goal in a 3–3 draw against Scottish champions Celtic. On 11 September 1971, in a home game against Chelsea, Ayris was on the receiving end of a challenge from Ron Harris, leading to Ayris being substituted off. Wapping
Wapping () is a district in East London in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Wapping's position, on the north bank of the River Thames, has given it a strong maritime character, which it retains through its riverside public houses and steps, such as the Prospect of Whitby and Wapping Stairs. It also has a Royal Navy shore establishment base on the riverfront called HMS President and home to Tobacco Dock and King Edward Memorial Park. Many of the original buildings were demolished during the construction of the London Docks and Wapping was further seriously damaged during the Blitz. As the London Docklands declined after the Second World War, the area became run down, with the great warehouses left empty. The area's fortunes were transformed during the 1980s by the London Docklands Development Corporation when the warehouses started to be converted into luxury flats. Ron Harris (English Footballer)
Ronald Edward Harris (born 13 November 1944), known by the nickname "Chopper" for his tough style of defending, is an English former footballer who played for Chelsea in the 1960s and 1970s. Harris captained Chelsea to FA Cup and UEFA Cup Winners' Cup success, and made a club record 795 appearances. His brother Allan Harris was also a professional footballer and they were teammates at Chelsea in the mid-1960s. Chelsea Harris was a member of the Chelsea side which won the FA Youth Cup in 1961 and made his senior club debut in February 1962 in a 1–0 win against Sheffield Wednesday. Within a year, he had established himself as a regular in the side, a position he would hold for the next eighteen years. English Football League
The English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888 as the Football League, the league is the oldest such competition in the world. It was the top-level football league in England from its foundation until 1992, when the top 22 clubs split from it to form the Premier League. The EFL is divided into the Championship, League One and League Two, with 24 clubs in each division, 72 in total, with promotion and relegation between them; the top Championship clubs change places with the lowest-placed clubs in the Premier League, and the bottom clubs of League Two with the top clubs of the National League.
