John Warburton (actor)
John Warburton (June 18, 1903 – October 27, 1981) was a British actor who appeared in numerous Hollywood films in the 1930s to 1960s. Biography Born in Drogheda, Ireland, Warburton studied for the ministry at Oxford University and served in the British military beginning in 1916. He came to the United States as a stowaway on a freighter and began acting on stage in New York. On Broadway, Warburton portrayed Cyril Beverley in ''Bird in Hand'' (1930). His film career began with RKO's ''Secrets of the French Police'' (1932). His work on television included performing on 35 episodes of ''Fireside Theater''. He also guest starred in television series such as ''Perry Mason'' and the ''Star Trek'' episode " Balance of Terror". In 1933, Warburton was in the center of legal trouble in Los Angeles. Unbroadcastable Radio Show
The Unbroadcastable Radio Show was a monthly live comedy show performed at the Comedy Store, Manchester. The show took the format of the recording of a radio show, featuring topical comedy written up to (and occasionally during) the day of performance. The show has been nominated for "Best Writing" and "Best Touring Show" at the North West Comedy Awards. It has also been featured in the Liverpool and Ludlow Comedy Festivals. The show is currently in development with the BBC comedy unit. John Warburton and Toby Hadoke performed on BBC Radio 4's 28 Acts in 28 Minutes doing an Unbroadcastable sketch. The last Unbroadcastable Radio Show was performed on 21 June 2009. It featured Toby, Peter, Helen and Dominic. John Warburton (1682–1759) was an antiquarian, cartographer, and Somerset Herald of Arms in Ordinary at the College of Arms in the early 18th century. Life He was the son of Benjamin and Mary Warburton. In early life John was an exciseman and then a supervisor, being stationed in 1718–19 at Bedale in Yorkshire. He was admitted F.R.S. in March 1719, but was ejected on 9 June 1757 for nonpayment of his subscription. His election as F.S.A. took place on 13 January 1720, but he ceased to be a member before January 1754. On 18 June 1720 he was appointed to the office of Somerset Herald in the College of Arms. "Warburton, John" entry in ''Dictionary of National Biography, 1885-1900, Volume 59'' Warburton's first wife was Dorothy, but they separated in 1716. John Warburton (also credited as John Hayward-Warburton) is a British television producer and director, best known for his collaborations with television producer, critic and prankster Victor Lewis-Smith. Early life Warburton, who was born in 1964 and raised in Worcestershire, graduated in the mid-1980s from the Tonmeister music and sound recording course at the University of Surrey. During his time at the university, he became News and Features editor for University Radio Surrey (as it then was). He went on to produce/present for various local radio stations, specialising in music including playwright Jeremy Sandford's documentary, "Songs from the Roadside", on the history and practice of British gypsy music. Sir John Warburton Paul (29 March 1916 – 31 March 2004) was a British colonial administrator and civil servant, who most notably served as the final Governor of the Gambia (1962–1965) and Governor of the Bahamas (1972–1973) prior to both of those countries achieving independence from the United Kingdom. Paul also served as the first Governor-General of the Gambia from 1965 to 1966, the Governor of British Honduras from 1966 to 1972, the first Governor-General of the Bahamas in 1973, and the Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man from 1974 to 1980. John Warburton Sagar (6 December 1878 – 10 January 1941) was a former England international rugby union fullback and British diplomat in the Sudan. Life history Sagar was born in County Durham in 1878 and was educated at Durham School. In 1898 he gained entry to Jesus College, Cambridge and was awarded his degree in 1901. On leaving university he became a private tutor in Yorkshire, before leaving to accompany a friend on a voyage around the world. On his return in 1902 he joined Loretto School in Scotland as an assistant master. In 1903 he joined the Sudan Political Service, remaining with the service until 1924. He gained several promotions during his time in Sudan, becoming the Governor of Kordofan from 1917 to 1922, and the Governor of Wadi Halfa from 1922 until he left the service in 1924. John Warburton (30 April 1919 – 26 August 2004) was an English fascist and press photographer. He was an assistant district leader for the Clapham branch of Sir Oswald Mosley's British Union of Fascists (BUF) before the Second World War, and afterwards was a key member of the Union Movement, the founder editor of ''Comrade'', and the senior Council member of Friends of Oswald Mosley. Early life John Warburton was born in Bury, Lancashire, on 30 April 1919, the son of a blacksmith who died when Warburton was 13. His mother's maiden name was Christian.
