John Waite (footballer)
John Aidan Waite (16 January 1942 – 3 April 2016) was an English professional football player and manager. He played for Grimsby Town, Gainsborough Trinity and Keelby, and managed Immingham Town. Waite was born on 16 January 1942 in Wellingore, Lincolnshire, and raised in Grimsby. His father Reg taught English to girls at Wintringham Grammar School (now Oasis Academy). His mother Betty was of the Steel family, who believed John got his athleticism from her brothers, Jack and Walter, Wellingore football players in the 1930s. Waite also played cricket during the summer months. He bowled for several teams, including Lincolnshire Colts, Cleethorpes Town, British Titan Products and Lindsey Oil Refinery. Waite also wrote a weekly column for the '' Grimsby Telegraph''. He also reported live on running matches on local radio. Wellingore
Wellingore is a village and civil parish in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 356. It is situated on the A607 road, approximately south from Lincoln. It conjoins the village of Navenby to the north. The Viking Way traverses through the villagepassingfrom the side of the cliff edge to Ermine Street. The name 'Wellingore' is thought to derive from the Old English for 'ridge at the place with the spring/stream'. Population In 1801 there was a resident population of 559, which peaked to 943 in 1861. In the 1971 Census there were 618 people recorded. The ''Grimsby Telegraph'' is a daily British regional newspaper for the town of Grimsby and the surrounding area that makes up North East Lincolnshire including the rural towns of Market Rasen and Louth. The main area for the paper's distribution is in or around Grimsby and Cleethorpes. It is published six days a week (daily except Sundays) with a free sister paper ('' Grimsby Target'') being published once per week. History The paper was founded in 1897 as the ''Eastern Daily Telegraph''. In 1899, it was renamed the ''Grimsby Daily Telegraph'', while in 1932 it became the ''Grimsby Evening Telegraph''. Oasis Academy Wintringham
Oasis Academy Wintringham is a secondary school (academy) on Weelsby Avenue in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, England. It is just off the A16 Peaks Parkway just south-west of the A46 crossroads next to the Lisle Marsden CE Primary School in Wellow and on the Grimsby- Cleethorpes boundary (the A16). The school was originally a religious foundation, and lies in the ecclesiastical parish of St Augustine of Hippo. History The school began in 1933 as Wintringham Secondary School on Eleanor Street. Grammar school The old grammar school buildings in Weelsby Avenue, Grimsby, were opened in 1953 as Wintringham Grammar School to replace a former school on Eleanor Street, Grimsby.
