John Ward Davis (died May 27, 1907) was an American politician and farmer from Maryland. He served as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing Cecil County from 1868 to 1870. John Warren Davis (March 4, 1867 – February 21, 1945) was a United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and previously was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. Education and career Born on March 4, 1867, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Davis received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1896 from Bucknell University, a Bachelor of Divinity in 1899 from Crozer Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Laws in 1906 from University of Pennsylvania Law School. John Warren Davis (February 11, 1888July 12, 1980) was an American educator, college administrator, and civil rights leader. He was the fifth and longest-serving president of West Virginia State University in Institute, West Virginia, a position he held from 1919 to 1953. Born in Milledgeville, Georgia, Davis relocated to Atlanta in 1903 to attend high school at Atlanta Baptist College (later known as Morehouse College). He worked his way through high school and college at Morehouse and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1911. John Wesley Davis (April 16, 1799 – August 22, 1859) was an American physician and Democratic politician, active in the mid-1800s. He is best known for serving as Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Governor of the Oregon Territory, and as a four-time member of the Indiana state legislature. Early life and education Davis was born in New Holland, Pennsylvania, on April 16, 1799, and later moved to Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, with his parents. Davis graduated from Baltimore Medical College in 1821, then moved to Carlisle, Indiana, in 1823 and practiced medicine there. He married Ann Hoover on November 19, 1820. His daughter, Caroline Davis, married James C. Denny, Indiana Attorney General (1872-1874). John William Davis (September 12, 1916 – October 3, 1992) was an American politician and lawyer. Early life and education Davis was born near Rome, Georgia, attended the University of Georgia (UGA) in Athens and graduated in 1937 with an A.B. and from the UGA School of Law with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in 1939. He was admitted to the state bar in 1939 and began practice in Rome. Career WWII Beginning in July 1942, Davis served in the United States War Department Headquarters until December 1945. He then served in South America on behalf of the Counter Intelligence Corps. In 1946, Davis moved to Summerville, Georgia, and resumed practicing law.
