John Veitch (footballer)
John Gould Veitch, Jr. (19 July 1869 – 3 October 1914) was an English amateur footballer, who played for the Corinthian club in the 1890s. He made one appearance for England playing at inside left in 1894, in which he scored a hat trick. Outside football, he was a member of the Exeter-based Veitch Nurseries business. Family and education Veitch was born in Kingston Hill, Surrey, the son of John Gould Veitch and his wife, Jane (née Hodge). His father was a horticulturist, one of a long line of renowned plant collectors and breeders. His elder brother James Herbert Veitch became a partner and subsequently owner of the Veitch Nurseries business. Veitch was educated at Westminster School and was a member of the school football side in 1887. Kingston Vale with Kingston Hill is a district in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames in south-west London. It is a residential area between Richmond Park, the much smaller Putney Vale, Wimbledon Common, Coombe/Coombe Hill and the Norbiton part of the very old borough. The main road is the A308 (also called Kingston Vale and Kingston Hill) which is a through route for traffic passing to and from Kingston Hill to the A3 trunk road (locally known as the ''Kingston By-pass''). Charlie Parry
Charles Frederick Parry (1870 – 4 February 1922) was a Welsh footballer who played as a defender for Everton in the 1890s, helping them to win the Football League championship in 1891. He also made thirteen appearances for the Wales national football team including four as captain. Later in his career, he returned to Wales where he won the Welsh Cup with Aberystwyth Town in 1900. He subsequently fell on hard times and was the beneficiary of three testimonial matches. Club career Early days Parry was born in Llansilin, near Oswestry. Rupert Sandilands
Rupert Renorden Sandilands (7 August 186820 April 1946) was an English international footballer who played as an outside left. Early and personal life Sandilands was born on 7 August 1868 at the vicarage in Denford, near Thrapston in Northamptonshire, where his father Percival was the vicar. He was the youngest of six children. By 1881 the family was living at Lyvdene School in Devon, where his father was schoolmaster. Sandilands attended Westminster School. He worked in London as a clerk for the Bank of England. In addition to his football career, he also played hockey and cricket. Football career Sandilands played football whilst attending Westminster School, and played club football for Old Westminsters, Casuals, Corinthian and Ealing. Arthur George Topham (19 February 1869 – 18 May 1931) was an English international footballer who played as a left half. Early and personal life Topham was born in Elson, near Ellesmere, as the youngest of six children. His brother Robert was also a footballer. He attended Oswestry School, followed by Keble College, Oxford, where he earned a Blue in 1890. Lewis Vaughan Lodge
Lewis Vaughan Lodge (21 December 1872 – 21 October 1916) was an English footballer who represented the England national football team. He also played first-class cricket with Hampshire. Sporting career Lodge, a left- or right-back, made his England debut in a win over Wales in 1894. He played Wales again in 1895 as well as an international against Scotland, and in 1896 he was a member of the English side which beat Ireland, before earning his fifth and final cap in a loss to Scotland later that year. The defender may or may not have captained England in their 1896 encounter with Ireland; primary sources give the captaincy to either Gilbert Smith, George Raikes or Lodge. The Racecourse Ground ( cy, Y Cae Ras) is a football stadium in Wrexham, Wales. It is the home of Wrexham A.F.C. It is the world's oldest international football stadium that still hosts international matches, having hosted Wales' first home international match in 1877, and has hosted more Wales international matches than any other ground. The record attendance at the ground was set in 1957, when Wrexham hosted a match against Manchester United in front of 34,445 spectators.
