John Valentine (composer)
John Valentine (7 June 1730 – 10 September 1791) was an English violinist, violist and composer. Biography John Valentine was born in Leicester, England, the son of John Valentine and his wife Sarah. By 1759 John Valentine owned and operated a music shop on New Bond Street in Leicester, which he later moved to other locations. He sold instruments and music and taught lessons in various instruments including keyboard and horn. Valentine performed at concerts in the area mostly as a violinist or violist, and played in the Handel Commemoration concerts in memorial for George Frederic Handel in London in 1784. John Valentine was a member of a musical family in Leicester. He was the great-nephew of composer Robert Valentine. John's son Thomas Valentine (1759 – c. 1800) was also a violinist, who performed in the Handel Commemoration and in the London area for at least a decade. John Nugent Valentine (born 20 September 1954) is a Canadian former cricketer, a left-arm medium-pace bowler who was the first player to take a wicket for Canada in a One Day International. In terms of batting, he was decidedly a tail-ender, and in nine matches at ODI and ICC Trophy level his highest score was 3 not out. He played domestic cricket in Canada for Ottawa, Ontario. Valentine appeared in Canada's runner-up 1979 ICC Trophy team with some success; he took nine wickets at 15.88, though never more than two in a single innings. He also played in his country's 1979 World Cup side, opening the bowling and removing Pakistan's opening batsman Majid Khan for 1. Valentine played two other matches for the outclassed Canadian team in that tournament, against England (taking the wicket of captain Mike Brearley) and Australia (claiming the scalp of Rick Darling). John Gill Valentine (November 21, 1855 – October 10, 1903) was an American pitcher and umpire in Major League Baseball who played one season as a player for the Columbus Buckeyes of the American Association, and later umpired from to . Playing career Born in Brooklyn, New York, he made his major league debut for the Buckeyes in 1883, his only season as a player, and compiled 13 games pitched, starting 12 and completing 11 of them. He had a win-loss record of 2–10, with an earned run average of 3.53 in 102 innings pitched. Umpiring career After the 1883 season, Valentine became an umpire, beginning in 1884 for the American Association, and umpiring 102 games that first season. He continued umpiring in the Association until midway through the season, when switched over to the National League, which is where he continued to umpire until retiring after the 1888 season. John Theodore Wisniski (September 22, 1928 – April 24, 2001), better known by his ring name Johnny Valentine, was an American professional wrestler with a career spanning almost three decades. He has been inducted into four halls of fame for his achievements in wrestling. Wisniski is the father of professional wrestler Greg "The Hammer" Valentine. He held numerous regional titles, including the NWA United States Heavyweight Championship. John Cheyne Valentine (13 March 1930 – 17 February 2019) was a Scottish footballer, who played for Queen's Park, Rangers and St Johnstone in the Scottish League. He is known for his ill-fated appearance at the 1957 Scottish League Cup Final The 1957 Scottish League Cup Final was the final of the 1957–58 Scottish League Cup. The football match was played on 19 October 1957 at Hampden Park, in which Celtic beat rivals Rangers in a record 7–1 victory. The final was nicknamed "Ham ..., where he played centre-half for the Rangers team which lost 7–1 to Celtic. Valentine made only 10 appearances for Rangers, all in the 1957–58 season. Valentine died in February 2019, aged 88. Terry Fell
Terry Fell (May 13, 1921 – April 4, 2007) was an American country musician. Biography Childhood and adolescence Fell was born in Dora, Alabama on May 13, 1921, and got his first guitar at the age of nine. Later, he learned mandolin and took singing lessons. When he was 13 years old, his father died; three years later, he moved alone to California, where he spent some time in a camp of the Civilian Conservation Corps. After he briefly lived in Alabama again, Fell and his mother moved to the US West Coast. There, he began playing in 1943 as bassist for Merl Lindsay. Musical career Fell started his record career in 1945 as a member of Billy Hughes' band, Pals of The Pecos. His first record was with Hughes on the Fargo label. He began his solo career with Memo, then Courtney, 4 Star, and Gilt-Edge Records, although none of his releases became hits there.
