John Urquhart (sheriff)
John W. Urquhart (born November 10, 1947) was the 33rd sheriff of King County, Washington and a Democrat. He served as the county's chief law enforcement official and oversaw the more than 1000 employees of the King County Sheriff's Office. Early life Urquhart grew up in Seattle, Washington. He attended Ingraham High School, graduating in 1967 as class president. He then attended the University of Washington, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in business in 1971. He owned an electrical construction materials business in Bellevue, which he sold in 1988. Career Urquhart's first job in law enforcement was as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff for the Island County, Washington, Island County Sheriff's Department, serving from 1975 to 1980. He then joined the King County Sheriff's Office as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff in 1980, eventually becoming in a full-time Deputy Sheriff in 1988. King County Sheriff's Office
The King County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) is a local police agency in King County, Washington, United States. It is the primary law enforcement agency for all unincorporated areas of King County, as well as 12 cities and two transit agencies which contract their police services to the KCSO. KCSO also provides police and fire Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting to the King County International Airport (Boeing Field). KCSO also provides regional-level support services to other local law enforcement agencies such as air support and search and rescue. The department has over 1,000 employees and serves 2.1 million citizens, over 500,000 of whom live in either unincorporated areas or the 12 contract cities. Ingraham High School
Ingraham High School is a public high school, serving grades 9–12 in the Haller Lake neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, United States. Opened in 1959, the school is named after Edward Sturgis Ingraham, the first superintendent of the Seattle Public Schools. Since 2002, Ingraham has been an International Baccalaureate school, and also offers programs such as the Academy of Information Technology. Since the 2011 school year, Ingraham has also offered an accelerated model of the International Baccalaureate program (IBx), modeled on a similar program in Bellevue School District, allowing students in Seattle Public Schools' highly capable cohort (formerly Accelerated Progress Program). Island County is a county located in the U.S. state of Washington. As of the 2020 census, its population was 86,857. Its county seat is Coupeville, while its largest city is Oak Harbor. Steve Strachan (born January 26, 1965) is an American law enforcement officer and politician. He has served as the Chief of the Bremerton, Washington Police Department, Chief of the Lakeville, Minnesota Police Department, the Chief of the Kent, Washington Police Department, and the Sheriff of King County, Washington.
