John T. McDonald III
John T. McDonald III is the Assembly member for the 108th District of the New York State Assembly. He is a Democrat. The district includes all of Cohoes and Rensselaer, and parts of Albany and Troy. Life and career McDonald was born and raised in Cohoes, New York where he would later serve as Mayor from 1999 to 2012. In 1985, he graduated from the Albany College of Pharmacy and went on to open Marra's Pharmacy which is located in Cohoes, where he and his family still reside today. Formerly, McDonald served as the President of the New York Conference of Mayors. Cohoes, New York
Cohoes ( ) is an incorporated city located in the northeast corner of Albany County in the U.S. state of New York. It is called the "Spindle City" because of the importance of textile manufacturing to its growth in the 19th century. The city's factories processed cotton from the Deep South. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 16,168. The name Cohoes is believed to be derived from a Mohawk term, ''Ga-ha-oose'', referring to the Cohoes Falls and meaning "Place of the Falling Canoe," an interpretation noted by Horatio Gates Spafford in his 1823 publication "A Gazetteer of the State of New York". Steven Francis "Steve" McLaughlin (born October 4, 1963) is an American politician serving as County Executive of Rensselaer County, New York. A Republican, McLaughlin represented the 107th District in the New York State Assembly from 2011 to 2017; the district included parts of Albany, Columbia, Greene and Rensselaer Counties in New York's Capital Region. Rensselaer is a city in Rensselaer County, New York, United States, and is located on the east side of the Hudson River, directly opposite of Albany.
