John T. Marshall
John T. "Toyzilla" Marshall is an author, pop culture expert, comic book writer and film producer. He has written five reference books on vintage toys: (''G.I. Joe, GI Joe And Other Backyard Heroes'' (1997), ''Action figures of the 1980s'' (1998), ''Action Figures of the 1960s'' (1998), ''Comic Book Hero Toys'' (1999), and ''Collecting Monster Toys'' (1999), all published by Schiffer Publishing). He has also been a columnist for Toy Shop (magazine), Toy Shop, Collectors' Showcase, and Collecting Toys. Additionally he has been a contributor to several notable books on vintage toys, such as The Collectible GI Joe by Derryl DePriest. Action Figure
An action figure is a poseable character (arts), character model figure made most commonly of plastic, and often based upon characters from a film, comic book, military, video game or television program; fictional or historical. These figures are usually marketing, marketed toward boys and adult collectors. The term was coined by Hasbro in 1964 to market G.I. Joe to boys (while competitors called similar offerings ''boy's dolls''). According to a 2005 study in Sweden, action figures which display traditional Masculinity, masculine traits primarily target boys. While most commonly marketed as a child's toy, the action figure has gained widespread acceptance as collecting, collector item for adults. Comic Book
A comic book, also called comicbook, comic magazine or (in the United Kingdom and Ireland) simply comic, is a publication that consists of comics art in the form of sequential juxtaposed panels that represent individual scenes. Panels are often accompanied by descriptive prose and written narrative, usually, dialogue contained in word balloons emblematic of the comics art form. "Comic Cuts" was a British comic published from 1890 to 1953. It was preceded by "Ally Sloper's Half Holiday" (1884) which is notable for its use of sequential cartoons to unfold narrative. The hobby of collecting includes seeking, locating, acquiring, organizing, cataloging, displaying, storing, and maintaining items that are of interest to an individual ''collector''. Ninja High School
''Ninja High School'' (also known as ''NHS'') is a comic book series created, written, and illustrated by Ben Dunn, and published by Antarctic Press (at one point being published by Eternity Comics). On occasion other artists and writers have contributed to the series, including Katie Bair, Fred Perry, Robby Bevard, Carlos Castro, and Fabian Doles. ''NHS'' takes place in a suburban town known as Quagmire, located "somewhere in the Midwest".
