John Szoka
John D. Szoka (born October 21, 1954) is an American politician who served as a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives from the 45th district from 2013 to 2023. A Republican, was first elected in November 2012 and assumed office in January 2013. Early life and education Szoka was born in Cleveland and raised in Maple Heights, Ohio. After graduating from Maple Heights High School, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from the United States Military Academy and a Master of Science in operations research from the University of Texas at Austin, where he specialized in mathematics and computer modelling. Career Szoka served in the United States Army from 1976 to 1996. Since 2011 he has worked as a branch manager for Certainty Home Loans. North Carolina's 4th Congressional District
The 4th congressional district of North Carolina is located in the central region of the state. The district includes all of Durham County, Orange County, Granville County, and Franklin County, as well as portions of Chatham County, northern Wake County, and southern Vance County. The district is currently represented by 11-term Congressman David Price, a former political science professor at Duke who was first elected in 1986, ousting one-term Republican incumbent Bill Cobey. Price was reelected in 1988, 1990, and 1992, but he was defeated in his bid for a fifth term in 1994 by Republican Fred Heineman, the Raleigh Police Chief, in a generally bad year for Democrats in North Carolina. Price came back to defeat Heineman in a rematch in 1996, and has been reelected each time since then by large margins, usually with more than 60% of the vote. Richard "Rick" Glazier (born June 16, 1955, in Allentown, Pennsylvania) served as a Democratic member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing the 45th district, from 2003 until his resignation in 2015. William Dale Brisson (born August 18, 1946) is a Republican member of the North Carolina House of Representatives. He has represented the 22nd district, covering Bladen County and a portion of Sampson County, since 2007. Brisson lives in Bladen County, North Carolina.
