John Story (businessman)
John Douglas Story , an Australian businessman, was previously a chairman and/or director of a number of Australian listed corporations. Story is the grandson of John Douglas Story, a prominent Queensland public servant. Career After a career as a lawyer, predominantly with law firm Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Story took on a number of directorships. Story's directorships have included: * Echo Entertainment Group (2011–2012). In June 2012, chairman of rival Crown Limited, James Packer, put pressure on the Echo board to remove Story. John Douglas Story
John Douglas Story (7 August 1869 in Edinburgh, Scotland – 2 February 1966 in Brisbane, Australia). Also known as J. D. Story, he migrated to Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, with his parents, as a child, and attended Brisbane Grammar School and Brisbane Technical College. Story was a prominent Queensland public servant who entered the Queensland Public Service and was Under-Secretary for the Department of Education between 1906 and 1920. He was the Public Service Commissioner from 1920 to 1939 and served on the Public Service Superannuation Board from 1913 until 1942. He was a long-time member of the Stanley River Works Board which was instrumental in the construction of Somerset Dam. Peter Joseph Noozhumurry Varghese, (born 19 March 1956) is an Australian retired diplomat and public servant. He was the Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade from 3 December 2012 to 22 July 2016.
