''Teheran'' is a 1946 British-Italian thriller film co-directed by Giacomo Gentilomo and William Freshman. It stars Derek Farr as Pemberton Grant, a British intelligence officer who discovers a plot to assassinate the President of the United States Franklin D. Roosevelt at the Tehran Conference during the Second World War. It also featured Marta Labarr, Manning Whiley and Pamela Stirling. ''Across the Bridge'' is a 1957 British thriller film directed by Ken Annakin and starring Rod Steiger, David Knight and Bernard Lee. It is based on the 1938 short story " Across the Bridge" by Graham Greene. According to his obituary, it was director Annakin's favourite film. Plot Carl Schaffner (Rod Steiger) is a widowed British businessman, born in Germany, who flees to Mexico with the police hot on his heels after stealing company funds. He has a fortune stashed in a Mexican bank to keep it out of reach of the British authorities. While traveling by train, Schaffner drugs and switches identities with fellow train passenger Paul Scarff (Bill Nagy), who looks like him and has a Mexican passport. ''The Stranger's Hand'' (Italian: ''La mano dello straniero'') is a 1954 British-Italian thriller drama film directed by Mario Soldati and starring Trevor Howard, Alida Valli and Richard Basehart. An international co-production, it is based on the draft novel with the same name written by Graham Greene. The plot follows the son of a British MI5 agent kidnapped in Venice by agents of Yugoslavia as he searches for his father. The first two chapters of ''The Stranger's Hand'' had been entered by Greene anonymously under a pseudonym to a competition in the ''New Statesman'' to write a book in the style of Graham Greene – a competition in which Greene was amused to win second prize.
