John Shurley (died 1616)
John Shurley (died October 1616), of 'The Friars', Lewes, Sussex, was an English politician. He was born the son of Edward Shurley of Isfield, educated at Queens' College, Cambridge and studied law at Clifford's Inn where he was called to the bar by 1575. He was an MP for Lewes 1572, 1589, 1597 and 1604; for Lostwithiel Lostwithiel (; kw, Lostwydhyel) is a civil parish and small town in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom at the head of the estuary of the River Fowey. Lewes
Lewes () is the county town of East Sussex, England. It is the police and judicial centre for all of Sussex and is home to Sussex Police, East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, Lewes Crown Court and HMP Lewes. The civil parish is the centre of the Lewes local government district and the seat of East Sussex County Council at East Sussex County Hall. A traditional market town and centre of communications, in 1264 it was the site of the Battle of Lewes. The town's landmarks include Lewes Castle, Lewes Priory, Bull House (the former home of Thomas Paine), Southover Grange and public gardens, and a 16th-century timber-framed Wealden hall house known as Anne of Cleves House. Henry Capell (died 1558)
Sir Henry Capell (1505– 1 February 1558) of Ubley, Somerset was an English politician. He was born the son of Sir Giles Capell of Rayne, Essex. His grandfather was Sir William Capel Sir William Capel (c. 1446-1515) of Capel Court in the parish of St Bartholomew-by-the-Exchange in the City of London and of Hadham Hall in the parish of Little Hadham, Hertfordshire, served as Lord Mayor of London and as a Member of Parliam ..., twice Lord Mayor of London. He inherited his Ubley estate on the death of his mother c.1512. He was knighted in 1533 of the occasion of the coronation of Anne Boleyn. He was a Member of Parliament, Member (MP) of the Parliament of England for Somerset (UK Parliament constituency), Somerset in 1547.
