John Sheridan (footballer)
John Joseph Sheridan (born 1 October 1964) is an Irish football former football player and manager who was last head coach of National League club Oldham Athletic. A midfielder, he began his playing career with Manchester City and then moved to Leeds United, where he scored 47 league goals in 230 appearances. He played for Nottingham Forest briefly, under the management of Brian Clough, and then joined Sheffield Wednesday, for whom he scored the winning goal in the 1991 Football League Cup Final at Wembley Stadium. Near the end of his time with the club, he played for Birmingham City and Bolton Wanderers on loan before joining the latter permanently. Sheridan made 199 league appearances for Wednesday and scored 25 goals. He won the First Division title with Bolton in 1997. Sheridan then played for Doncaster Rovers after leaving Bolton and then joined Oldham Athletic, where he spent the last six years of his playing career, scoring 14 league goals in 144 appearances. ''Morning Advertiser'' is one of the oldest news publications in the world, beginning as a newspaper in 1794 and being published in hard copy until 2020. In 2011, William Reed Ltd, bought ''The Publican'' from United Business Media and merged the two titles to form ''The Publican's Morning Advertiser'', a printed magazine with a news website. John Emmet Sheridan (June 14, 1877 – July 3, 1948) was an illustrator well known in his lifetime for his cover art for ''The Saturday Evening Post'', his illustrations for '' Collier's Weekly'' and ''Ladies' Home Journal'', and his commercial advertisements. He is "credited with the idea of using posters to advertise college sports." Sheridan was a member of the Dutch Treat Club, and a frequent contributor to the program of their annual banquet and show, and was an instructor at New York's School of Visual Arts at the time of its founding. John Sheridan (Royal Navy Officer)
Vice-Admiral John Sheridan (c.1778 – 15 May 1862) was an officer of the Royal Navy who saw service in most of the major conflicts of the early nineteenth century, including the French Revolutionary Wars, French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, the Anglo-Russian War (1807–1812), Anglo-Russian War and the War of 1812. Sheridan had risen to lieutenant by the end of the French Revolutionary Wars, and with the resumption of hostilities in 1803 was serving in the English Channel. Here he acquitted himself well in several actions, after which he moved to the Baltic Sea, Baltic and was active in several engagements against the Russians during the Anglo-Russian War. Promoted to commander as a result, he took the bomb vessel to North America and was present at the assault on Fort McHenry during the Battle of Baltimore, actions which inspired the writing of the poem that became the words to "The Star-Spangled Banner". John Sheridan (born September 18, 1954 in Minneapolis, Minnesota) is a retired professional ice hockey player who played 69 games in the World Hockey Association. He played for the Indianapolis Racers. Sheridan was selected by the Minnesota North Stars in round 6 (96th overall), of the 1974 NHL Amateur Draft and by the Indianapolis Racers in round 7 (92nd overall) of the 1974 WHA Amateur Draft after his freshman year at University of Minnesota.
