Delta is a city in the Lower Mainland region of British Columbia, Canada, as part of Greater Vancouver. Delta is a federal electoral district in British Columbia, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1988 to 1997 and since 2015. History The 1988–1997 edition of this riding was created in 1987 from parts of Fraser Valley West, Richmond—South Delta and Surrey—White Rock—North Delta ridings. During this period of time, the riding consisted of the District Municipality of Delta and the southwest part of the District Municipality of Surrey. It was abolished in 1996, and became part of Delta—South Richmond. The riding was recreated following the 2012 federal electoral boundaries redistribution. Kenneth Walter Davidson (born July 28, 1937) is a former political figure in British Columbia, Canada. He represented Delta in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 1975 to 1991 as a Social Credit member. He was born in Georgetown, Ontario, the son of David Douglas Davidson and Helen Tessman, and was educated in Welland and at the University of British Columbia. Fred Gingell
Fred Gingell (November 18, 1930 – July 6, 1999) was an English-born political figure in British Columbia. He represented Delta South in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 1991 to 1999 as a Liberal. He was born in London. He served as finance critic in the provincial assembly. Gingell was leader of the opposition in the provincial assembly from February 1993 to March 1994. He served as the first president of Kwantlen College. Gingell died in office from cancer. The British Columbia Social Credit Party, whose members are known as Socreds, was the governing provincial political party of British Columbia, Canada, for all but three years between the 1952 provincial election and the 1991 election.
