John S. Rodgers
John S. Rodgers (born July 29, 1965) is an American politician who served in the Vermont Senate from the Essex County, Vermont, Essex-Orleans County, Vermont, Orleans district from 2013 to 2021. He previously served in the Vermont House of Representatives from the Orleans County, Vermont, Orleans-Caledonia County, Vermont, Caledonia 1 district from 2003 to 2011. He ran as a write-in candidate in the Democratic primary for Governor of Vermont in 2018 Vermont gubernatorial election, 2018. Rodgers proposed a controversial bill proposing the banning of cellphone use for people under the age of 21. Vermont Senate
The Vermont Senate is the upper house of the Vermont General Assembly, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Vermont. The senate consists of 30 members. Senate districting divides the 30 members into three single-member districts, six two-member districts, three three-member districts, and one six-member district. Each senator represents at least 20,300 citizens. Senators are elected to two-year terms and there is no limit to the number of terms that a senator may serve. As in other upper houses of state and territorial legislatures and the U.S. Senate, the state senate of Vermont has special functions, such as confirming or rejecting gubernatorial appointments to executive departments, the state cabinet, commissions, and boards, as well as electing members to the Vermont Supreme Court. Essex County, Vermont
Essex County is a county located in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Vermont. As of the 2020 census, the population was 5,920, making it the least-populous county in both Vermont and New England. Its shire town (county seat) is the municipality of Guildhall. The county was created in 1792 and organized in 1800. Bordered by the Connecticut River next to New Hampshire, Essex County is south of the Canadian province of Quebec. Orleans County is a county located in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Vermont. As of the 2020 census, the population was 27,393. Its county seat is the city of Newport. The county was created in 1792 and organized in 1799. As in the rest of New England, few governmental powers have been granted to the county. The county is an expedient way of grouping and distributing state-controlled governmental services. History The county shares the same pre-Columbian history with the Northeast Kingdom. Vincent Illuzzi, Jr. (born September 17, 1953) is an American lawyer and politician from Derby, Vermont, Derby, Vermont who formerly served as a Vermont Republican Party, Republican member of the Vermont Senate, Vermont State Senate representing the Essex-Orleans Vermont Senate District, 2002-2012, Essex-Orleans senate district. The 2018 Vermont gubernatorial election took place on November 6, 2018, to elect the Governor of Vermont, concurrently with the election of Vermont's Class I U.S. Senate seat, as well as other elections to the United States Senate in other states and elections to the United States House of Representatives and various state and local elections.
