Jack Roxburgh
John Maxwell Roxburgh (February 14, 1901February 27, 1975) was a Canadian ice hockey administrator and politician. He organized minor ice hockey in his hometown of Simcoe, Ontario, co-founded the Ontario Juvenile Hockey Association in 1934, and the Ontario Minor Hockey Association in 1940. He served as president of the Ontario Hockey Association from 1950 to 1952, improved its finances to become profitable, and appointed Bill Hanley as a full-time manager to operate the association as a business. Roxburgh served as president of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association from 1960 to 1962, arranged exhibition games between Canada and the Soviet Union amid an increased rivalry between the respective national teams, and pushed for the separation of politics and sport when the Cold War threatened to cancel the 1962 Ice Hockey World Championships. John Roxburgh (footballer)
John Roxburgh (10 November 1901 – 29 March 1977) was a Scottish footballer who played in the Football League for Aston Villa, Leicester City, Sheffield United and Stoke. Career Roxburgh began his career with Edinburgh Emmett before joining English non-league side Rugby Town. He impressed enough to earn a move to Leicester City where he was a regular for two seasons. He joined Aston Villa in 1922 and then moved on to Stoke. At the Victoria Ground Roxburgh played 14 matches scoring once against Stockport County in a 1–0 in February 1924. At the end of the 1923–24 season he moved on again this time to Sheffield United and then Sheffield Sheffield is a city status in the United Kingdom, city in South Yorkshire, England, whose name derives from the River Sheaf which runs through it. John Roxburgh (minister)
John Roxburgh (1806–1880) was a Scottish minister of the Church of Scotland and later of the Free Church of Scotland. He served as the latter denomination's Moderator of the General Assembly in 1866 or 1867. Life He was born on 8 March 1806 the son of Archibald Roxburgh (1773–1823), a Glasgow shipping merchant, and his wife, Elizabeth Clark (1777–1813). In 1820 he was living with his father at 21 Charlotte Street in Glasgow, his mother having died. He studied Divinity at Glasgow University, graduating with an M.A. in 1828 and was licensed to preach by the Glasgow Presbytery of the Church of Scotland in 1831. He then did mission work in Manchester before returning to do mission work in St David's Parish in Glasgow then in Barony parish. He was ordained at St John's Church in Dundee in 1834. John Roxburgh (racing Driver)
John Roxburgh, (25 April 1932 – 2 August 1993) was an Australian racing driver, and motor sports administrator. Roxburgh's career was highlighted by taking victory in the original 1960 Armstrong 500 (known later as the Bathurst 1000), co-driving a Vauxhall Cresta with Frank Coad. Roxburgh continued to race touring cars well into the 1970s, most notably racing for the factory supported Nissan Motors, Datsun Racing Team. He won Class A at Bathurst in 1967 Gallaher 500, 1967 driving a Nissan Sunny#B10 .281966.E2.80.931969.29, Datsun 1000 (B10 series), and Class B in 1968 Hardie-Ferodo 500, 1968 in a Nissan Bluebird#510 series, Datsun 1600 (510 series), co-driving with triple Australian Grand Prix winner Doug Whiteford on each occasion. Roxburgh also won the 1962 Six Hour Le Mans at Caversham Airfield, Caversham in Western Australia driving a Lotus 15 with Derek Jolly.
