John Ross (blogger)
John Ross is a British economist and blogger, known for his leadership of the Trotskyist party Socialist Action and his support for the Chinese government. He is better known in China as his Chinese name Luo Siyi (). Ross currently contributes to multiple Chinese news media including CGTN and China Daily. Socialist Action, Labour and Ken Livingstone Ross joined the Trotskyist International Marxist Group (IMG) in the late 1960s. His party name in the IMG was Alan Jones. He worked with Bob Pennington to form the IMG Opposition Group. Ross was a central figure in the leadership of the IMG in the 1970s and early 1980s. In December 1982, the IMG renamed itself the Socialist League, while continuing to refer to itself as the IMG in internal documents. The group had fully entered the Labour Party and in 1983 began publishing the '' Socialist Action'' newspaper, by which name the League was often known. Socialist Action (UK)
Socialist Action is a small Trotskyism, Trotskyist group in the United Kingdom. From the mid-1980s Socialist Action became an entryism, entryist organisation, attempting to work within other organisations, with members using code names and not revealing their affiliation. It maintains a website but no publicly visible formal organisation. The organisation was linked with the 2000–2008 Greater London mayoral administrations of Ken Livingstone, although Livingstone was never a member. Four of Livingstone's key advisers were Socialist Action members; all made the "top 25" in the ''Evening Standard's'' 2007 list of the most influential people in London. Its members have maintained leading positions in many campaigns - the National Abortion Campaign, the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, National Assembly Against Racism and various coalitions against the wars against Iraq, Afghanistan and Yugoslavia, for example. The Chinese government has committed a series of ongoing human rights abuses against Uyghurs and other ethnic and religious minorities in Xinjiang that is often characterized as genocide. Since 2014, the Chinese government, under the administration of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) General Secretary Xi Jinping, has pursued policies that incarcerated more than an estimated one million Turkic Muslims in internment camps without any legal process. Jodie Evans (born September 22, 1954) is an American political activist, author, and documentary film producer. Evans served in the cabinet of California Governor Jerry Brown and managed his 1992 campaign for the presidency. Evans co-founded the women's anti-war activist organization Code Pink with Medea Benjamin and others. She is the board chair of the Rainforest Action Network.
