John Rogers (Ohio Politician)
John M. Rogers is a former Democratic member of the Ohio House of Representatives, representing the 60th District which includes the Lake County communities of Eastlake, Fairport Harbor, Grand River, Lakeline, Mentor-on-the-Lake, Painesville, Timberlake, Wickliffe, Willoughby, Willowick, as well as parts of both Mentor and Painesville Township. He was first elected in 2012. Prior to his election, Rogers was mayor of Mentor-on-the-Lake for 18 years and a Mentor-on-the-Lake city councilman for five years. He has also served as Lake County deputy treasurer and Lake County assistant prosecutor. He was chosen for the 60th District ticket by the party central committee after Lake County Commissioner Dan Troy withdrew. Lorraine Fende (born August 15, 1956) was County Treasurer for Lake County, Ohio. Previously she was a Democratic member of the Ohio House of Representatives for the 62nd District. Fende served as a councilwoman and mayor in Willowick, Ohio. Fairport Harbor, Ohio
Fairport Harbor is a village in Lake County, Ohio, United States, along Lake Erie at the mouth of the Grand River. The population was 3,109 at the 2010 census. Fairport Harbor is home to two lighthouses: the Fairport Harbor West Breakwater Light in Painesville Township, operated by the United States Coast Guard and the Grand River (Fairport Harbor) Light operated by the Fairport Harbor Historical Society. Painesville Township is one of the five townships of Lake County, Ohio, United States. The population was 20,399 at the 2010 census. It is part of Greater Cleveland in the Northeast Ohio Region, the 15th largest combined statistical area in the United States. Name and history Long occupied by various indigenous peoples, the area was not settled by European Americans in any number until after the Revolutionary War. Early on, this land was considered part of the Connecticut Western Reserve. Willoughby, Ohio
Willoughby is a city in Lake County, Ohio and is a suburb of Cleveland. The population was 22,268 at the time of the 2010 census. History Willoughby's first permanent settler was David Abbott in 1798, who operated a gristmill. Abbott and his family were said to have had close relations with a band of Indians along the banks of the local river, which the Indians called the "Sha-ga-rin" meaning "Clear Water." This river was later called the Chagrin River, though the origin of the name remains in dispute. In 1835, the village was permanently named "Willoughby" in honor of Westel Willoughby, Jr., a public health official that the founders of a short-lived Medical College, which was based in the city, hoped to attract to the area.
