John Reeves (Australian Footballer)
John Norman Reeves (2 September 1929 – 1 May 1970) was an Australian rules footballer for North Melbourne and St Kilda in the Victorian Football League, (VFL). Originally from Assumption College, Kilmore, Reeves made his senior VFL debut in 1948 and played in North Melbourne's losing 1950 VFL Grand Final side. After eight seasons at North Melbourne Reeves transferred to St Kilda for the 1956 VFL season, which proved to be his last. Reeves's son Michael played for North Melbourne and Fitzroy between 1980 and 1987, and his grandson Josh Caddy played for the Gold Coast Suns, the Geelong Football Club and the Richmond Football Club between 2011 and 2022. John Charles Reeves (born 8 July 1963) is an English former football player and manager who played in the Football League as a midfielder for Fulham and Colchester United. He was also briefly joint-manager of F.C. Clacton. Playing career Born in Hackney, London, Reeves joined Fulham as an apprentice in July 1979, signing professional terms in 1981 and made his first-team debut in January 1982. He broke his arm during the 1983–84 season and struggled to earn a place in the squad, making 17 appearances in total, including 14 league games. Reeves was signed by Cyril Lea at Colchester United following his release from Fulham in August 1985, making his debut on the opening day of the 1985–86 season in a 3–1 win over Stockport County. John Reeves (born February 23, 1975) is a former American football linebacker. He played college football for Purdue. Early life and high school Reeves was born and grew up in Bradenton, Florida and attended Southeast High School, where he played football alongside NFL wide receiver Peter Warrick. As a senior, he led the Seminoles to a perfect record and a Class 4A state championship and broke the school's record for touchdown passes in a season. College career Reeves had to sit out his freshman season due to academic issues. As a sophomore, he played in six games at quarterback and completed 26 of 57 passes for 285 yards with one touchdown and six interceptions. John Reeves (20 November 1752 – 7 August 1829) was a legal historian, civil servant, British magistrate, conservative activist, and the first Chief Justice of Newfoundland. In 1792 he founded the Association for Preserving Liberty and Property against Republicans and Levellers, for the purpose suppressing the "seditious publications" authored by British supporters of the French Revolution—most famously, Thomas Paine's ''Rights of Man''. Because of his counter-revolutionary actions he was regarded by many of his contemporaries as "the saviour of the British state"; in the years after his death, he was warmly remembered as the saviour of ultra-Toryism. John Reeves (naturalist)
John Reeves (1 May 1774 – 22 March 1856) was an English naturalist. He developed a notable collection of Chinese drawings of animals and plants. Reeves was the son of Reverend Jonathan Reeves of West Ham, Essex. Orphaned young, he was educated at Christ's Hospital and started working with a tea merchant. His knowledge of teas got him an appointment of inspector of tea in 1808. In 1812 he was sent to China in the employment of the British East India Company. He was responsible for the introduction of a number of garden plants to the West including ''Wisteria''. Reeves was a correspondent of the Horticultural Society of London to which he sent specimens. He also corresponded with Sir Joseph Banks, regularly sending him specimens. John Sims Reeves (21 October 1821 – 25 October 1900) was an English operatic, oratorio and ballad tenor vocalist during the mid-Victorian era. Reeves began his singing career in 1838 but continued his vocal studies until 1847. He soon established himself on the opera and concert stage and became known for his interpretation of ballads. He continued singing through the 1880s and later taught and wrote about singing. Musical beginnings Sims Reeves was born in Shooter's Hill, in Kent, England. He served as a Judge of the Federal Court of Australia from November 2007 to January 2022.
