John Reed (actor)
John Lamb Reed, OBE (13 February 1916 – 13 February 2010) was an English actor, dancer and singer, known for his nimble performances in the principal comic roles of the Savoy opera, Savoy Operas, particularly with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company. Reed has been called "the last great exponent" of the Gilbert and Sullivan comedy roles. The son of a butcher from County Durham, Reed began performing at the end of World War II, joining the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company in 1951. After eight years as understudy to Peter Pratt, he became the principal comedian of the company in 1959, remaining for two decades, playing all the famous Gilbert and Sullivan patter song, patter roles, including Sir Joseph in ''H.M.S. Sir John Alexander Macdonald (January 10 or 11, 1815 – June 6, 1891) was the first prime minister of Canada, serving from 1867 to 1873 and from 1878 to 1891. The dominant figure of Canadian Confederation, he had a political career that spanned almost half a century. Macdonald was born in Scotland; when he was a boy his family immigrated to Kingston in the Province of Upper Canada (today in eastern Ontario). As a lawyer, he was involved in several high-profile cases and quickly became prominent in Kingston, which elected him in 1844 to the legislature of the Province of Canada. John Reed Swanton (February 19, 1873 – May 2, 1958) was an American anthropologist, folklorist, and linguist who worked with Native American peoples throughout the United States. Swanton achieved recognition in the fields of ethnology and ethnohistory. He is particularly noted for his work with indigenous peoples of the Southeast and Pacific Northwest. John Peter Cyril Reed (born 21 May 1951) was Archdeacon of Taunton from 1999 until his retirement in 2016. Reed was educated at Monkton Combe School, King's College London and Ripon College Cuddesdon. He was ordained as a deacon in 1979, and a priest in 1980. After a curacy in Croydon he was precentor at St Albans Abbey from 1982 to 1986. John Reed (fur Trader)
John Reed (??-1814) was an American clerk employed by several fur trade companies until his death in 1814. Pacific Fur Company Of his final employers, Reed's final one was the Pacific Fur Company (PFC). He was hired at Mackinac Island as a clerk in August 1810. From there he joined Wilson Price Hunt and the other members of an expedition bound for the Columbia River. An advanced party of PFC administrators and laborers was planned to arrive on board the '' Tonquin'', leaving New York City in September 1810. This second group was to begin a company headquarters prior Hunt's arrival from the United States. The party Reed joined was largely composed of French-Canadian and Métis subjects of the United Kingdom, in addition to a number of Americans. John Paul Reed (born 27 August 1972) is an English former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Born in Rotherham, England, he played for Sheffield United, Scarborough, Darlington, Mansfield Town and Blackpool in the Football League. Reed subsequently spent five years playing in the English non-league, along with a brief spell at Greek side Ethnikos Piraeus. Playing career Reed came through the youth system at Sheffield United but never managed to establish himself in the first team. He was loaned to Scarborough, Darlington and Mansfield Town to get first team experience, but eventually left Bramall Lane having only made 17 appearances in total, scoring two goals. Reed signed for Blackpool during the 1997 close season, but the move proved to be an unsuccessful one as he made only three substitute appearances in the league for The Tangerines.
