John Raymundo
John Murphy "Pamboy" Raymundo (born May 30, 1989) is a Filipino professional basketball player who plays for the Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). He was drafted 12th overall in 2011 by the Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters. He also played in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL). Early life and high school career Raymundo started playing basketball at the age of seven. He made it to his high school's basketball varsity team as a sophomore. His team played in the NCR meet, where he was noticed by college scouts, and renowned coach Edmundo "Ato" Badolato, who tried to recruit him for San Beda's high school team. He also participated in the 2005 Nike All-Asia Camp, along with Gian Chiu, and played against future NBA player Patty Mills. 2017 PBA D-League Aspirant's Cup
The 2017 PBA D-League Aspirants Cup is the first conference of the 2017 PBA Developmental League season. The tournament opened on January 19, 2017 at the Ynares Sports Arena, Pasig. There are 10 teams in this season's Aspirant's Cup, 4 are holdovers from last year's Foundation Cup, 2 returnees after a short hiatus, and 3 new squads. 5 of the teams were represented by players from various colleges and universities. Draft The annual draft of the PBA D-League will be conducted on December 20, 2016. 128 aspirants—113 local players and 15 Filipino-foreigners—had already submitted their intention to participate in the draft. AMA, Tanduay, Racal, Caféfrance and Wang's will picked the first five draft picks, while a lottery will decide the draft orders of 4 new teams, San Beda-Cignal, JRU, MLQU and Batangas. Joshua Emile Doherty Urbiztondo (born February 27, 1983) is a Filipino-American former professional basketball player. He last played for the San Miguel Alab Pilipinas of the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL). Amateur career Urbiztondo played for Fresno-Pacific University in his final years of college. It was there where he gained a reputation as a scorer. In the summer of 2008, Urbiztondo left the States to play in the PBA D-League. PBA Philippine Cup
The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup is a tournament that does not allow teams to hire foreign players or imports. Before 2004–05 season, the tournament was then known as the PBA All-Filipino Cup. It is considered the most prestigious of the three conferences in a PBA season. The San Miguel Beermen are the conference's current defending champions. Since the 2006–07 season, the Jun Bernardino Trophy were awarded to the champions. The trophy is worth PHP 500,000 and is made up of 24-karat gold plate, which the champions can keep for a year. After that, they will receive a smaller replica of the trophy. If a team wins three consecutive tournaments, the franchise gets to keep the trophy and not the replica. The San Sebastian Golden Stags (also known as SSC-R Stags) are the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines) basketball team of the San Sebastian College – Recoletos. Patty Mills
Patrick Sammy Mills (born 11 August 1988) is an Australian professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Mills was born and raised in Canberra, and is of Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal Australian descent. In 2007, he became the third Indigenous basketball player to play for the Australian national team. Gian Chiu
Gian Chiu (born January 20, 1989) is a Filipino former professional basketball player. He last played for Barako Bull Energy of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He was drafted 27th overall in the 2012 PBA Draft by the B-Meg Llamados. High School career Chiu started his high school career in the Philippines with the Ateneo High School. Chiu found his way to the States after a Golden State Warriors scout discovered him, and that scout, who happened to be a friend of one of the assistant coaches at Desert Christian, recommended the assistant coach to recruit Chiu. The San Beda Red Lions is the collegiate varsity basketball team of the San Beda University that plays in the NCAA. The juniors basketball team is called the Red Cubs of San Beda University–Rizal, while the women's varsity basketball team is called the Red Lionesses.
