John Paul Kelly (football)
John Paul Kelly (born 16 June 1987) is an Irish former professional footballer, best known for his spell with Bohemians. Biography Kelly began his career at Liverpool, playing in its academy set-up, before returning to Ireland due to homesickness. In 2005, he signed for Bohemians, and during his time there, won the Premier Division and the FAI Cup, both in 2008. The following year, he signed for Drogheda United, but left the club after twelve games. In 2017, it was reported that he had returned to football, signing for amateur club St James's Gate St. James's Gate, located off the south quays of Dublin, on James's Street, was the western entrance to the city during the Middle Ages. Dublin (; , or ) is the capital and largest city of Republic of Ireland, Ireland. 2008 FAI Cup Final
The 2008 FAI Cup Final was a football match held at the RDS, Dublin on 23 November 2008 and was the final match of the 2008 FAI Cup competition. The match was the 85th FAI Cup Final, and the second to be held at the RDS since Lansdowne Road shut for redevelopment. The final was contested by Bohemians and Derry City, with Bohemians winning 4–3 on penalties after extra time had finished 2–2. It was the first ever FAI Cup Final to be decided by a penalty shoot-out and it was the seventh time Bohemians had won the trophy, the victory granting them a league and cup double for the season. It was the second league and cup double won by Bohemians in the 2000s. Anthony Buttimer was the referee for the match. The 2008 League of Ireland Premier Division was the 24th season of the League of Ireland Premier Division. The division was made up of 12 teams. Bohemians were champions while St Patrick's Athletic finished as runners-up. Club information Overview The regular season began on 7 March and concluded on 14 November. Each team played the other teams three times, totaling 33 games. Bohemians finished the season as champions, winning by a margin of nineteen points. There was no promotion/relegation play-off between Premier Division and First Division teams. This was because the 2009 Premier Division would be reduced to 10 clubs.
