John Novak
John Novak is a Canadian voice, film and television actor who frequently does work for the Ocean Productions based in Vancouver, Canada. Biography He was born in Venezuela to Canadian parents who were visiting the country. He has also starred in the Wishmaster sequels '' Wishmaster 3: Beyond the Gates of Hell'', and '' Wishmaster: The Prophecy Fulfilled'', replacing Andrew Divoff as The Djinn. He appeared in ''Street Justice'', twice in the TV series ''Sliders'' as a shyster lawyer, Ross J. Kelly, and 3 times in '' Highlander: The Series''. He most recently starred as the Sheriff in '' Bloodrayne 2: Deliverance''. Novak is probably best known, in Canada at least, from Kokanee beer commercials, as he plays the Park Ranger who is constantly trying to prevent the Kokanee Sasquatch from stealing the beer. Gatecon
Gatecon is a fan convention centered on the ''Stargate'' television franchise. The first Gatecon was held in 2000 in Vancouver, Canada, with the convention being held annually until 2008. Since 2008 the event has been held sporadically. The event has included tours of the ''Stargate SG-1'' (1997–2006), ''Stargate Atlantis'' (2004–2009) and ''Stargate Universe'' (2010–2011) sets at The Bridge Studios. A number of different charities have been supported by Gatecon, including Make A Wish Foundation, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and Cystic Fibrosis Canada, with MGM and the shows creators providing props and memorabilia to be auctioned off. '' Death Note'' is a Japanese anime television series based on the manga series of the same name written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. It was directed by Tetsurō Araki at Madhouse and originally aired in Japan on Nippon TV every Tuesday shortly past midnight, effectively from October 4, 2006, to June 27, 2007. The plot of the series primarily revolves around high school student Light Yagami, who decides to rid the world of evil with the help of a supernatural notebook called a ''Death Note''. This book causes the death of anyone whose name is written in it and is passed on to Light by the Shinigami Ryuk after he becomes bored within the Shinigami world.
