John N. Wenrich
John N. Wenrich (January 29, 1917 in Mohnton, Berks County, Pennsylvania – April 21, 2011 in Wyomissing) was a 20th-century American artist of the "Pennsylvania Impressionism" style. Wenrich graduated from the Mohnton High School in 1934 and was a magna cum laude graduate from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania in 1939, with a degree in Art Education. He began his career as a public school art teacher in the Pottsgrove School District in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania and worked on a master's degree at Columbia University in New York. Wenrich then assumed supervision of art education in the Mohnton schools. His teaching career was interrupted by service in World War II from 1943 to 1945. Returning from the war as a first lieutenant, Wenrich worked briefly for the Kresge Company and then became director of advertising and marketing services for the Glen-Gery Corporation of Reading, Pennsylvania. Mohnton is a borough in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. It had a population of 3,043 in the 2010 census. History The earliest post office in Mohnton was called Mohn's Store. A post office was established at Mohn's Store in 1857, the post office was renamed Mohnton in 1906, and it remains in operation. Geography Mohnton is located in southern Berks County at (40.286242, -75.985936), part of the contiguous urban area surrounding the city of Reading. It is bordered on all sides by Cumru Township, including the unincorporated community of Pennwyn on the borough's eastern border. The borough of Shillington is to the northeast. Kutztown (Pennsylvania German: ''Kutzeschteddel'') is a borough in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located southwest of Allentown and northeast of Reading. As of the 2010 census, the borough had a population of 5,012. Kutztown University of Pennsylvania is located just outside the borough limits to the southwest. History George (Coots) Kutz purchased of land that became Kutztown on June 16, 1755, from Peter Wentz who owned much of what is now Maxatawny Township. Kutz first laid out his plans for the town in 1779. The first lots in the new town of Cootstown (later renamed Kutztown) were purchased in 1785 by Adam Dietrich and Henry Schweier. The ''Reading Eagle'' is the major daily newspaper in Reading, Pennsylvania. A family-owned newspaper until the spring of 2019, its reported circulation is 37,000 (daily) and 50,000 (Sundays).
