John Munro (sportsman)
John Knox Ewing Munro (27 December 1928 – 16 August 2013) was an Australian sportsman who represented Western Australia in both first-class cricket and Australian rules football. He played for the Western Australia cricket team in the Sheffield Shield and for Claremont Football Club in the West Australian National Football League (WANFL). Munro made his first-class cricket debut in the 1948/49 Sheffield Shield season and remained Western Australia's favoured wicket-keeper until 1954/55. He took five first-innings catches against South Australia in the 1951/52 Sheffield Shield season, a career best. Although he usually batted low down the order, he did once make 53 not out, against the touring New Zealanders at the WACA in March 1954. Perth

WACA Ground
The WACA (formally the WACA Ground) is a sports stadium in Perth, Western Australia. The stadium's name derives from the initials of its owners and operators, the Western Australian Cricket Association. The WACA has been referred to as Western Australia's "home of cricket" since the early 1890s, with Test cricket played at the ground since the 1970–71 season. The ground is the home venue of Western Australia's first-class cricket team, the Western Warriors, and the state's Women's National Cricket League side, the Western Fury. The Perth Scorchers, a Big Bash League franchise, played home matches at the ground until 2019. Hale School
Hale School is an independent, Anglican day and boarding school for boys, located in Wembley Downs, a western suburb of Perth, Western Australia. Named after the school founded by Bishop Mathew Blagden Hale in 1858, Hale School claims to be the oldest private boys' school in Western Australia, a claim subsequently contested by historian and former Hale School Headmaster Dr Ken Tregonning. The school was originally situated at the Cloisters on St Georges Terrace in Perth, relocated to the Pensioner Guard Barracks at the top of St George's Terrace around 1880, and then to new Havelock Street premises in 1914 in West Perth. Gordon Louis Charles 'Sonny' Maffina (10 January 1926 – 10 September 1991) was an Australian rules footballer who played 114 games for Claremont in the West Australian National Football League (WANFL) from 1948 to 1958. Centreman Gordon Maffina, nicknamed Sonny, arrived at Claremont from Goldfields National Football League club Boulder City. 1953 Adelaide Carnival
The 1953 Adelaide Carnival was the 12th edition of the Australian National Football Carnival, an Australian rules football interstate competition. It took place from 8 to 18 July at Adelaide Oval. Home state South Australia was joined by the two Victorian teams Victoria (VFL) & Victoria (VFA), Western Australia, Tasmania, the Victoria (VFL) were the best performed side, finishing the carnival unbeaten. A crowd of 52,632, then a record for an interstate game, attended the game between South Australian and Victoria which would decide the Championship. South Australia, even though they had accounted for Victoria as recently as 1952, were no match on this occasion for their Victorian opponents and lost by 99 points. The VFA team performed admirably, defeating Tasmania and getting within 18 points of Western Australia and 33 points of Victoria.
