John Molchon
John Molchon (born February 2, 1997) is an American football guard who is a free agent. He played college football at Boise State. Early life and high school Molchon grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada and attended Faith Lutheran Middle School & High School in Summerlin. He was ranked #9 by ESPN overall in Nevada and he led the Crusaders to their first state title in 2013, later being named the NIAA Division 1-A linebacker of the year. In 2020, John Molchon had his number retired by Faith Lutheran Middle School & High School. College career Molchon redshirted his true freshman season. For his 2016 season he appeared in seven games, making three starts and was a semifinalist for the Joe Moore Award. In 2017, he appeared in all 14 games, making 13 starts and was part of a Bronco line for the Mountain West's No. 2 scoring offense (32.5 ppg). Guard (gridiron Football)
In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center (American football), center and the offensive tackle, tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for Blocking (American football), blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side. Guards are to the right or left of the center. The guard's job is to protect the quarterback from the incoming defensive line, linemen during pass plays, as well as creating openings (holes) for the running backs to head through. Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association
The Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA) is the governing body of athletic programs for high schools in the state of Nevada. In addition, five schools in the state of California (Coleville, Needles, North Tahoe, South Tahoe, and Truckee) and one from Arizona (Beaver Dam) are also members as the schools are geographically isolated from other in-state schools. It is a non-profit organization founded in 1922 as the Nevada Interscholastic League and became affiliated with the National Federation of State High School Associations in 1939. The Joe Moore Award is awarded annually to the best college football offensive line unit. The award is presented by the Joe Moore Foundation for Teamwork and they state that "The Joe Moore Award for the Most Outstanding Offensive Line Unit will annually recognize the toughest, most physical offensive line in the country, making it the only major college football award to honor a unit or group. The award's namesake, Joe Moore, was a long-time offensive line coach at Notre Dame and Pittsburgh. Redshirt, in United States college athletics, is a delay or suspension of an athlete's participation in order to lengthen their period of eligibility. Typically, a student's athletic eligibility in a given sport is four seasons, aligning with the four years of academic classes typically required to earn a bachelor's degree at an American college or university. However, in a redshirt year, student athletes may attend classes at the college or university, practice with an athletic team, and "suit up" (wear a team uniform) for play – but they may compete in only a limited number of games (see " Use of status" section).
