John Minogue (politician)
John Minogue (born 21 December 1959 in Scariff, County Clare, Ireland) is an Irish hurling manager and former player. He is the current manager of the Clare under-21 hurling team. Minogue captained UCC to 1 Fitzgibbon Cup in 1981 and also won a medal the next year 1982. He captained the combined universities team in 1981. He played his club hurling with Scariff and at inter-county level with Clare, playing in two County Finals and winning one Clare Cup. He was a corner-back on the latter team at various intervals throughout the 1980s, as well as serving as team captain for a season. He captained Clare to win the Oireachtas Cup in 1983. In retirement from playing Minogue has become involved in team management at various levels. In his role as a teacher he has guided St. Flannan's College to 6 of Dr. Harty Cup titles and 3 All Ireland Colleges titles. Scariff GAA
Scariff is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Scariff, Clare, Ireland. History There is very little recorded of the first few years of Scariff Hurling Club, but it has almost certainly always been a senior club. In 1907, Scariff played in its first Clare Senior Hurling Championship county final, beating O'Callaghan Mills. It won further senior championships in 1917, 1946, 1952 and 1953 and lost the final in 1918, 1919, 1942, 1943, 1960, 1991 and 1995. Michael Walsh (Kilkenny Hurler)
Michael Walsh (born 13 October 1961) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a goalkeeper for the Kilkenny senior team and played soccer for Kilkenny City A.F.C. at schoolboy, youth, junior and senior level, as well as lining out for the Republic of Ireland youth team. Walsh made his first appearance for the team during the mid-1980s, however, he didn't become first-choice goalkeeper until the 1990-91 National League and was a regular member of the team until his retirement after the 1996 championship. During that time he has won two All-Ireland winners' medals, three Leinster winners' medals, one National League winners' medal and two All-Star awards. At club level Walsh was a one-time county championship medalist with Dicksboro. Walsh is the son of Ollie Walsh, regarded by many as one of the greatest hurling goalkeepers of all-time. Ken Hogan
James Kenneth Hogan (born 1 May 1963) is an Irish former hurler who played as a goalkeeper at senior level for the Tipperary county team. Born in Lorrha, County Tipperary, Hogan first played competitive hurling whilst at school at the Presentation College, Birr. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Tipperary minor team, before later joining the under-21 team. He joined the senior team during the 1986 championship. Hogan went on to win two All-Ireland medals, five Munster medals and one National Hurling League medal. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. As a member of the Munster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions throughout his career, however, Hogan never won a Railway Cup medal. Ger Loughnane
Gerard "Ger" Loughnane (born 27 January 1953) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a right wing-back for the Clare senior team. Born in Feakle, County Clare, Loughnane first played competitive hurling whilst at school in St. Flannan's College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Clare minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 1972-73 National Hurling League. Loughnane immediately became a regular member of the starting fifteen, and won two National Hurling League medals. He was a Munster runner-up on five occasions. As a member of the Munster inter-provincial team at various times throughout his career, Loughnane won three Railway Cup medals. John Callinan
