John McNally (boxer)
John McNally (3 November 1932 – 4 April 2022) was an Irish boxer who won a silver medal at the 1952 Summer Olympics in the bantamweight division. In the final McNally lost a split decision to Pentti Hämäläinen of Finland. Early life McNally was born and raised in the Pound Loney area of west Belfast. He was the first person from Belfast and the first Irish boxer to win an Olympic medal. In 1953, McNally won a bronze medal at the European championships and a gold in the Golden Gloves Championships representing Europe against the US in Chicago. McNally, within the space of a year, beat three American Golden Gloves champions and was awarded an honorary pair of Golden Gloves in recognition of this achievement. John McNally (musician)
John McNally (born 30 August 1941) is an English guitarist. He was a member of The Searchers, a band he formed in 1959, who were a big part of the Mersey sound in the early 1960s. He was the longest serving member of the group, touring in the band from 1957, until their retirement in 2019, as well as their 2023 farewell tour. Early life McNally was born in Walton, Liverpool. His love for music first came as a child, when his older brother, Frank, would bring back records from the United States, whilst working out at sea in the Navy: John first learned guitar as a child when Georgie McGee, a friend of his older brother, taught him a few guitar chords. John McNally (politician)
John Joseph McNally (born 1 February 1951) is a Scottish politician who was elected to the House of Commons of the United Kingdom as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Falkirk in 2015. He is a member of the Scottish National Party (SNP). Political career McNally joined the SNP in 2000. He first became an elected representative in Falkirk council after winning the Herbertshire by-election in 2005. Until this point, the SNP were unable to make a breakthrough in this area. He stood as a candidate in the Falkirk constituency at the 2010 general election, finishing second behind Labour's Eric Joyce. In 2015, McNally was elected with 34,831 votes, a majority of 19,701 over his nearest rival. John A. McNally IV (born c. 1969) is a former mayor of Youngstown, Ohio. McNally was born and raised in Youngstown and graduated from Ursuline High School in 1987. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Foreign Service from Georgetown University in 1991 and a Juris Doctor and Master of Public Administration from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University in 1996. McNally served as Assistant Law Director for the City of Youngstown from 1998 to 2002, later serving as Law Director from 2002 to 2004. He was elected twice as Mahoning County Commissioner before retiring from that office in order to run for Mayor of Youngstown.
