John McKenzie (painter)
John H. Gibb (2 April 1831 – 10 September 1909) was a Scottish, marine painter who settled in New Zealand in 1876. Biography He was born in Cumbernauld, Scotland. Early in his life, Gibb had shown a natural aptitude for drawing and painting that was encouraged by his family. By 1849 he was receiving tuition in the studio of John McKenzie of Greenock, Scotland. His first wife was Agnes Crighton whom he married in 1852. Agnes died in 1855 during childbirth. He married for a second time, to Marion Menzies, his cousin in 1857. The River Clyde and the environs of the Firth of Clyde were the focus of Gibb's paintings during the 1850s, 60s and early 70s. In 1861 he began exhibiting at the Royal Scottish Academy. Gibb settled in the village of Innellan, near Dunoon on the Firth of Clyde, briefly moving to Alnwick in Northumberland around 1865. John McKenzie (ice Hockey)
John Albert McKenzie (December 12, 1937 – June 9, 2018) was a Canadian professional hockey player and coach. He played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for several seasons, most notably with the Boston Bruins, with whom he won the Stanley Cup twice. He also played several seasons in the World Hockey Association (WHA). Playing career McKenzie's former teammate Gerry Melnyk dubbed the young player "Pieface" for his resemblance to a cartoon figure of the same name featured on the wrapper of a popular Canadian candy bar; this was later shortened to "Pie." He played junior hockey for three years with the St. Catharines Teepees of the OHA and led the league in goals and points in 1958. McKenzie made his NHL debut in 1958–59 with the Chicago Black Hawks. Williams was born in Llangoed on Anglesey, but lived most of his life in nearby Llanfairpwllgwyngyll. In his youth, he was a keen footballer, and he also worked as a teacher. John McKenzie (trade Unionist)
John McKenzie (1885 – 1958) was a Scottish trade unionist. McKenzie joined the National Union of Gasworkers and General Labourers, and from 1910 worked full-time for the union as a district organiser. In 1913, the union appointed him as its Scottish district secretary. He opposed the Red Clydeside movement, claiming that it was a conspiracy of craft unions, and that many people wished to work but were prevented from doing so by mass pickets. McKenzie College (Texas)
McKenzie College, also called McKenzie's College, was a private college located on the plantation of Reverend John W. P. McKenzie, a Methodist minister, in Clarksville, Texas, United States. Starting in 1841, the school grew from 16 students educated in a log cabin to over 300 students and 9 faculty members occupying four large buildings in 1854. It was the largest institution of higher education in Texas during the 1850s and 1860s. Before the American Civil War began, it trained almost all of the new Methodist ministers in the state. Unable to retain financial support after the War, Rev. McKenzie closed the school in June, 1868. He served for a year as the first president of another Methodist school, Marvin College in Waxahachie, Texas, then completely retired from church-related work. John McKenzie was a Scottish footballer who played as an inside right. He played in the Scottish Football League's top division for four clubs over nine consecutive seasons – Third Lanark, Heart of Midlothian, Aberdeen and Ayr United – before his career was curtailed by World War II. His most notable achievement was appearing in the 1937 Scottish Cup Final which Aberdeen lost 2–1 to Celtic; the ''Dons'' were also runners-up in the 1936–37 Scottish Division One table behind Rangers, having been third behind the Old Firm teams the previous season – McKenzie missed only three matches across those two campaigns.
