John McKenna (hurler)
John 'Mackey' McKenna (born 1938 in Borrisokane, County Tipperary) is an Irish sportsman. He played hurling with his local clubs Borrisokane and Burgess and was a member of the Tipperary senior inter-county team from 1961 until 1968. McKenna won four All-Ireland All-Ireland (sometimes All-Island) refers to all of Ireland, as opposed to the separate jurisdictions of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Borrisokane GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in County Tipperary in Ireland. Located in the town of Borrisokane, it is one of the oldest Gaelic games clubs in Ireland. National Hurling League
The National Hurling League is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league. Although primarily a competition for Irish teams, teams from England – currently Lancashire GAA, Lancashire, London GAA, London and Warwickshire GAA, Warwickshire – also take part, while in the past New York GAA, New York also fielded a team for the latter stages of the league. Borrisokane Hurlers
Borrisokane () is a town in County Tipperary, Ireland. It is situated at the junction of the N52 and N65 national secondary roads. At the 2016 census, it had a population of 942. The Ballyfinboy River flows through the town on its way to Lough Derg, to the west. It is also a civil parish in the historical barony of Ormond Lower and an Ecclesiastical parish in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Killaloe. History During the Norman invasion of Ireland, the area now known as Borrisokane was the property of the O'Carrolls of Ely who claimed to be descendants of the ''Clan or Cian'' or the ''Cianacht''.
