John McIntyre (publisher)
John E. McIntyre is the co-founder of RealClearPolitics. He also publishes on the ''TIME'' blog and has appeared on the nationally syndicated ''Michael Reagan Talk Show.'' McIntyre, who majored in economics at Princeton University, was working as a trader at the Chicago Board Options Exchange in 2000 when he and co-founder Tom Bevan made the decision to launch RealClearPolitics. McIntrye said at the time, "We're political junkies and obsessive newspaper readers. So we decided that we would help people like us who don't have the time to cruise around the Web, but want to read the best articles of the day. We set up a one-stop shop where we do all the hunting, so others don't have to." RealClearPolitics (RCP) is an American political news website and polling data aggregator formed in 2000 by former options trader John McIntyre and former advertising agency account executive Tom Bevan. The site features selected political news stories and op-eds from various news publications in addition to commentary from its own contributors. The site is prominent during election seasons for its aggregation of polling data. In 2008, the site's founders said their goal was to give readers "ideological diversity". According to a 2012 article in the ''Chicago Sun-Times'', competitors and people inside politics have praised the site's balance of stories, although a 2020 article in ''The New York Times'' noted that since the end of 2017, RealClearPolitics has had a rightward, pro-Donald Trump turn in its content. Michael Edward Reagan (born March 18, 1945) is an American political commentator, Republican strategist, and former radio talk show host. He is the adopted son of former U.S. president Ronald Reagan and his first wife, actress Jane Wyman. He works as a columnist for Newsmax. Tom Bevan is an American writer and media executive who is co-founder and, as of 2021, publisher of RealClearPolitics. Tom Bevan graduated from Princeton University in 1991, after which he worked as an advertising account executive in Seattle, Chicago, and Miami with Leo Burnett and Crispin Porter + Bogusky. In 1993 he met John McIntyre; the two founded RealClearPolitics in 2000. In 2012 he co-authored, with Carl M.
