John McDermott (boxer)
John McDermott (born 26 February 1980) is an English former professional boxer who competed from 2000 to 2013. He is a three-time challenger for the British heavyweight title and in his last fight in March 2013, won the English heavyweight title. Professional career On 18 April 2008, McDermott won the vacant BBBofC English heavyweight title, knocking out Pele Reid in the second round. He had fought for the same title in 2004 losing on that occasion to Mark Krence. In September 2007, he had also become the mandatory challenger for a second shot at the British title after beating Scott Gammer on points over 10 rounds. He had fought for the title once before in December 2005 losing in the 1st round to Matt Skelton. McDermott faced Danny Williams at Goresbrook Leisure Centre, Dagenham on 18 July 2008 for the British Title, but was defeated controversially by a majority points decision. Pelé Jerry Wabara Reid (born 11 January 1973, in Newtown, Birmingham) is a retired British heavyweight boxer. He currently resides in Birmingham, West Midlands and is a personal trainer. He is a former WBO Inter-Continental heavyweight champion and World Kick Boxing Champion. In November 1993, he took part in the world amateur championship of WAKO, held at Atlantic City, New Jersey. He defeated William Eves (USA) by KO with his back-spin-kick at the final match of 89 kg class. The Eventim Olympia (originally the Liverpool Olympia) is a venue in Liverpool, England, situated on West Derby Road next to The Grafton Ballroom. History The Liverpool Olympia was built in 1905 For Moss Empires Ltd by architect Frank Matcham as a purpose built indoor circus and variety theatre. The theatre was a response to the enormous success of Thomas Barrasford's Royal Hippodrome Theatre (4,000 capacity, built 1902, demolished 1984) which stood a very short distance away; the Olympia never managed to meet the success of the Hippodrome, and never managed a profit. David Price (born 6 July 1983) is a British former professional boxer who competed from 2009 to 2019. At regional level, he held multiple heavyweight championships, including the British and Commonwealth titles from 2012 to 2013, and challenged once for the European title in 2015. Ivanson Ranny "Johnny" Nelson (born 4 January 1967) is a British former professional boxer who competed from 1986 to 2005, and has since worked as a boxing analyst.
