John McGregor (footballer, Born 1963)
John McGregor (born 5 January 1963 in Airdrie) is a former professional footballer. Career McGregor started his career at Queen's Park after signing from Bargeddie Amateurs. He went on to make over a hundred appearances for the ''Spiders'', becoming a mainstay in the side for over three seasons. He then joined English side Liverpool. He stayed five years on Merseyside making no appearances for the 1st team. McGregor returned to Glasgow with Rangers. He joined the club on a free transfer in 1987 and made his debut on 8 August 1987 in a 1–1 draw at home to Dundee United. He made twenty-nine appearances in his first season, including in the 1988 League Cup win over Aberdeen. McGregor's career subsequently stalled because of injuries, and he was forced to retire in 1992, joining the Rangers coaching staff soon after. John McGregor (Upper Canada Politician)
John McGregor (ca. 1751 – February 12, 1828) was a businessman and political figure in Upper Canada. McGregor was born in Scotland around 1751 and came to Detroit in 1784. When the British withdrew from that area, he moved to Old Sandwich Town, now part of Windsor, Ontario, in 1796. He received a city lot in Sandwich at #4 Russell Street where he lived for the remainder of his life. He became a merchant there in partnership with his cousin, James McGregor (Merchant) and had a boat built to transport grain. He later took over a gristmill from Thomas Clark in 1810 when Clark defaulted on a loan. In 1800, he was appointed justice of the peace in the Western District. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Upper Canada for Kent in 1804 and re-elected twice more, in 1808 and 1812. His large paper certificate dated June 20, 1808, and signed by seven prominent Kent County men survives and is located in the Canada Archives in Box MG 19A4 #45 of the Askin Papers. During this ...

John MacGregor (Glasgow MP)
John MacGregor (1797–1857) was a Scottish statistician and politician. Early life MacGregor was born at Drynie, near Stornoway, on the Western Isles, Scotland, the eldest son of Janet (née Ross) and David MacGregor. The family emigrated to Canada in 1803, sailing to Pictou, Nova Scotia. In 1806, they moved to Covehead on Prince Edward Island. As a young man MacGregor set up as a merchant in Charlottetown. In 1822, he served in the office of high sheriff; he was dismissed as a result of involvement in the dealings of Charles Douglass Smith. Put on trial at Smith's behest, he became popular and in 1824 a member of the House of Assembly. He left Canada, travelling through North America, collecting statistics. John MacGregor (Australian Politician)
John MacGregor (1828 – 27 March 1884) was a politician in colonial Victoria (Australia), and Minister of Mines. MacGregor was the son of John Macgregor, and was born in the island of Skye, Scotland. He arrived in Victoria in 1840, was admitted a solicitor of the Supreme Court in 1855, and practised in Melbourne, in what was latterly the firm of MacGregor, Ramsay, & Brahe. MacGregor unsuccessfully contested East Bourke in 1856 and 1861, but after the retirement of Wilson Gray in September 1862 MacGregor was returned for Rodney, for which district he sat in the Victorian Legislative Assembly till March 1874, when he retired from Parliament.
