John McDonald (born 9 April 1960) in Banbridge, County Down is a former Irish rugby union international player who played for the Irish national rugby union team. He played as a hooker. He played for the Ireland team from 1987 to 1990, winning 4 caps and was a member of the Ireland squad at 1987 Rugby World Cup. County Down
County Down () is one of the six counties of Northern Ireland, one of the nine counties of Ulster and one of the traditional thirty-two counties of Ireland. It covers an area of and has a population of 531,665. It borders County Antrim to the north, the Irish Sea to the east, County Armagh to the west, and County Louth across Carlingford Lough to the southwest. The 1987 Rugby World Cup was the first Rugby World Cup. It was co-hosted by New Zealand and Australia – New Zealand hosted 21 matches (17 pool stage matches, two quarter-finals, the third-place play-off and the final) while Australia hosted 11 matches (seven pool matches, two quarter-finals and both semi-finals).
