John M. Ward
John M. Ward (February 17, 1865 – February 10, 1948) was an American politician and farmer from Maine. A Republican, Ward served two terms (1928–1932) in the Maine House of Representatives, representing the town of Limestone, Maine in Aroostook County Aroostook County ( ; french: Comté d'Aroostook) is a county in the U.S. state of Maine along the Canada–U.S. border. As of the 2020 census, the population was 67,105. Its county seat is Houlton, with offices in Caribou and Fort Kent. Kn .... The Maine Republican Party is an affiliate of the United States Republican Party in Maine. It was founded in Strong, Maine, on August 7, 1854. The party currently does not control the governor's office or either chamber of the Maine Legislature, nor either of Maine's two U.S. House seats and only controls one of the state's U.S. Senate seats. Party history The Republican Party formed in Maine in 1854 due to Prohibition and the abolitionist movement. Maine House Of Representatives
The Maine House of Representatives is the lower house of the Maine Legislature. The House consists of 151 voting members and three nonvoting members. The voting members represent an equal number of districts across the state and are elected via plurality voting. The nonvoting members represent three of Maine's Native American tribes, though two tribes have declined to send representatives. Each voting member of the House represents around 9,000 citizens of the state. Because it is a part-time position, members of the Maine House of Representatives usually have outside employment as well. Limestone is a town in Aroostook County, Maine, United States. The population was 1,526 at the 2020 census.
