John M. Quinlan
John Michael "Jack" Quinlan was an American politician who served as a member of the Massachusetts Senate from 1965 to 1975. Early life Quinlan was born on July 11, 1935 in Natick, Massachusetts. He attended public school in Dover, Massachusetts and Sacred Heart School. He graduated from Harvard College in 1957 and taught at Franklin High School for four years. Political career State senate Quinlan began his political career as an assistant to U.S. Senator Leverett Saltonstall. In 1964 he was elected to the Massachusetts Senate. During his tenure in the Senate, Quinlan filed a number of pieces of unsuccessful legislation related to campaign finance reform. In 1968, Quinlan served as the state chairman for United Citizens for Nixon- Agnew. Quinlan also led a number of petition drives, including one that led to the joint election of the Governor and Lieutenant Governor and 4-year terms for statewide officers. Personal life James Rappaport received his education from Wharton School of Business and the Boston University School of Law. Margaret Mary Heckler (née O'Shaughnessy; June 21, 1931 – August 6, 2018) was an American politician and diplomat who represented in the United States House of Representatives from 1967 until 1983. Paul Henry Guzzi (born June 17, 1942) is an American businessman and former Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth. He was president and chief executive officer of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce for 19 years. Biography Paul Guzzi graduated from Harvard University with a degree in government. Guzzi was a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1971 to 1974. In the 1974 general election Guzzi defeated Republican state Senator John M. Anna Louise Day Hicks (October 16, 1916 – October 21, 2003) was an American politician and lawyer from Boston, Massachusetts, best known for her staunch opposition to desegregation in Boston public schools, and especially to court-ordered busing, in the 1960s and 1970s. A longtime member of Boston's school board and city council, she served one term in the United States House of Representatives, succeeding John William McCormack. The daughter of a wealthy and prominent attorney and judge, Hicks attended Simmons College and received her qualification as a teacher from Wheelock College. Massachusetts's 9th congressional district is located in eastern Massachusetts. It is represented by Democrat William R. Keating. The 9th district is the least Democratic congressional district in Massachusetts, according to the Cook Partisan Voting Index, PVI.
