John Lowe (darts Player)
John Lowe (born 21 July 1945) is an English former professional darts player. Along with Eric Bristow and Jocky Wilson, he was known for dominating darts during the 1980s. Lowe was world champion on three occasions, in 1979, 1987 and 1993. He was also a two-time winner of the Winmau World Masters and a two-time World Cup singles champion. In total, Lowe won 15 BDO and WDF majors. He held the World No. 1 ranking on four occasions. In October 1984, he became the first player to hit a televised nine-dart finish. Lowe is one of only six players to have won the World Championship three or more times, and was the first person to win it in three separate decades; along with Phil Taylor, he remains one of only two players to achieve this. John Jeffrey Lowe is an indologist and an associate professor of sanskrit at the Wolfson College, University of Oxford. He is also a faculty member at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Oxford, specialising in Indo-Iranian historical philology and Sanskrit grammar. He is currently in charge of and coordinating the LINGUINDIC (Linguistics from India: new ideas for modern linguistics from ancient India) project under the European Research Council, as its Principal Investigator, at Oxford. John Lowe (1553–1586) was an English Priesthood (Catholic Church), Catholic priest and martyr. John Lowe was born the son of Simon Lowe (or Low) and Margaret Lacy of London in 1553. His father Simon was perhaps the Simon Lowe alias Fyfield, Simon Low who was a merchant-tailor and citizen of London. He was for some time a Protestant minister. After his conversion, he studied at Douai. He was a servant at Anchin Abbey for 1578–1579. He entered the English College, Rome, arriving on 19 November 1581, and was Holy Orders, ordained a deacon there on 19 August 1582, but there is no record of where and when he was ordained a priest. John Lowe (born 13 April 1942) is an English pianist. In the late-1950s, he played piano for The Quarrymen, the group that would evolve into The Beatles. Early career Known to his friends as "Duff", Lowe had known Paul McCartney since 1953, and was invited to play piano with The Quarrymen by McCartney in February 1958. He was in The Quarrymen for two years, and was there when the band recorded a couple of songs for a vanity disc at Percy Phillips' home studio in Liverpool. The two tracks cut that day were "That'll Be the Day" and "In Spite of All the Danger". Lowe maintained possession of the tracks and, in 1981, sold the recordings to Paul McCartney. Their estimated value was around £12,000. McCartney had the record remastered and the songs appear on The Beatles' ''Anthology 1'' album.
