John Long (evangelist)
John Long III (1872–1962) was an Irish evangelist during the late 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. Long participated in the formative years of the Two by Twos, the Elim Pentecostal Church, Elim movement and Pentecostalism in Ireland and Great Britain. Early years John Long was born to Gilbert and Ann Long on 15 September 1872 in Cloughjordan, County Tipperary Ireland. From the age of seven, he worked digging peat during the summer months and attended school during the winter. Long became a Methodism, Methodist in 1890 during a Christian revival, revival mission. After his father's death in 1895, Long became a Methodist Colportage, colporteur. County Tipperary ( ga, Contae Thiobraid Árann) is a county in Ireland. It is in the province of Munster and the Southern Region. The county is named after the town of Tipperary, and was established in the early 13th century, shortly after the Norman invasion of Ireland. It is Ireland's largest inland county and shares a border with 8 counties, more than any other. The population of the county was 159,553 at the 2016 census. The largest towns are Clonmel, Nenagh and Thurles. Tipperary County Council is the local authority for the county. In 1838, County Tipperary was divided into two ridings, North and South.
