John Leslie McFarland
John Leslie McFarland (May 12, 1926 – January, 1971) was an American popular music composer and arranger. Career Early in his career McFarland wrote several songs for Bill Haley and His Comets: "Rockin' Rollin' Rover", "You Hit The Wrong Note Billy Goat", co-writing "Teenager's Mother" with Curtis R. Lewis. One of McFarland's earliest songs, co-written with Billy Moore Jr., was "You Dyed Your Hair Chartreuse". It was recorded by Louis Jordan in 1950. In 1959, he co-wrote "Wang Dang Taffy Apple Tango" with Aaron Schroeder, and the song was recorded by Pat Boone. In 1960 McFarland also co-wrote the hit "Dreamin'" for Johnny Burnette with Aaron Schroeder. McFarland co-wrote the song " Stuck On You" with Aaron Schroeder for Elvis Presley. The song was Presley's first hit single after two years in the US Army, recorded March 1960. Winfield Scott (November 27, 1920 – October 26, 2015), also known as Robie Kirk, was an American songwriter and singer. He wrote or co-wrote the hit songs "Tweedle Dee" for LaVern Baker, and he was a co-writer with Otis Blackwell of " Return to Sender" for Elvis Presley. "Return to Sender", written for the Presley film ''Girls! Girls! Girls!'', was a U.K. No.1 single and peaked at No.2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Scott was born in Bloomfield, New Jersey. In the 1950s, he was a member of a vocal group, The Cues. Scott was a longtime collaborator of Otis Blackwell and together they were hired to write a song for the Elvis Presley film ''Roustabout''. While the film was released in 1964, the song "I'm a Roustabout" was not used, producer Hal Wallis instead preferring "Roustabout", written by Bill Giant, Bernie Baum and Florence Kaye, as the title song. Mort Shuman
Mortimer Shuman (12 November 1938 – 2 November 1991) was an American singer, pianist and songwriter, best known as co-writer of many 1960s rock and roll hits, including "Viva Las Vegas". He also wrote and sang many songs in French, such as "Le Lac Majeur", "Papa-Tango-Charly", "Sha Mi Sha", "Un Été de Porcelaine", and "Brooklyn by the Sea" which became hits in France. Life and career Shuman was born in Brooklyn, New York, United States, of Polish Jewish immigrants and went to Abraham Lincoln High School, subsequently studying music at the New York Conservatory. He became a fan of R&B music and after he met Doc Pomus the two teamed up to compose for Aldon Music at offices in New York City's Brill Building.
